New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

This is an interesting headline for a competition that's doing so well 🤔

You get more desperate by the day. A week late, when that's already been sorted.

Just so you aren't totally ignorant, it was about Australia supposedly "backing out" of setting up an independent panel to oversee Super Rugby.
The good thing about an indepent Super Rugby is that they will eventually be able to sell TV rights for the comp on their own. Given the relative financial strengths, in that SR make up about 8% of NZRs income, NZR want it and RA don't.
In theory, given how little Super Rugby is worth to NZR, it could be sold to free to air allowing SKY to keep rights to internationals. NZR loses very little in income and ALL Super rugby games will be on free to air.... Given how many get sky for the Rugby and watch the League, the amount of churn, when Rugby isn't on Sky, will give a true indication of how much the NRL is watched in NZ. That will be REALLY telling.

And for the record, not that you are interested in the truth, I didn't say that Super Rugby is "doing so well".. i said, based on a half dozen articles its still rates very well in NZ. I also said, that the health of Super Rugby is irrelevant to the health of NZR, and that your thread stating "New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby" is patently stupid and wrong. Not to mention, since you started it, now moot.

A big rant to say nothing.
It's another dire headline for the comp.

NZ are getting another NRL team, I'm 80% sure they'll get the next license but given the comp is going to 20 teams makes it 100% certain.

It's just a matter of when , where and what they'll be called.
This venture will be the biggest thing to happen to NZ sport since the Warriors ! The attention that it attracts will mark a steep drop of in interest for Super Rugby and force a drastic change - like scrapping Super Rugby and going back to the provision thing. Most of the decent Union players will go to Japan and France to play professionally with NZ Rugby forced to change the eligibility criteria.

A MASSIVE BLOW.

✅️The Warriors return to NZ.
✅️Games played in Christchurch, Wellington and Napier.
... ...A second NZ team.
... ...A world cup.

This could be the golden era for Rugby League in New Zealand 🌄

BAHAHAHAA you really are grasping. There are already three bids that Aussie TV will prefer over a second NZ team. With an impending decrease in SkyTV money next deal, no club will want to take a cut in income to support an NZ team. All the talk about a second NZ team has come from Aussie, nothing from NZ. Why is that do you think? Because nobody believes it will come here.
And as for "20 teams" there are already calls for an 18 team cap because of the dilution of player talent, 20 is a pipe dream.
And apparently you still are stupid enough to think that interest in Super Rugby will wain, despite the opposite being true and TV ratings climbing.
NZ Rugby went from 188M to over 270M in income in one year, with projections of over 300 million a year n the coming years. MORE than enough to fund a "Super Rugby" comp. The best players aren't going anywhere.

You assertions, as usual, are based on ignorance and as such are clearly wrong.

Could be, but wont be...
The world cup would have to go ahead here without Govt money... so probably wont go ahead here.
Second team is already off of the table.

And the really funny thing is , you go on about Super Rugby crowds, but all three Warriors games, despite being event crowds and the ONLY time this year League is played there, got 17K or less... Those are not great crowd numbers.

I'm happy with them. Geez , SR get 5 to 8k most games.

Mark Reason? Really? Next it will be Chris Rattue or Hamish Bidwell...

To bad for you that the crowds aren't reflective of the TV viewership. You cling to the false hope of a "Dying" Super Rugby, but it's patently false in NZ. You cling to the vain hope of NZ2 despite it no longer being possible. You post irrelevant articles, because you cling to your thread despite it being bullshit.

Super Rugby is over in a few weeks but did it really even get going?

Australia probably want more money from nz since they have to pay sualli wages lmao

the nzru already give ra around ten million pa from their money to help out ra
You know that doesn't help the theme of this thread right? If NZR can give money to Oz the end isn't going to come anytime soon.

More importantly, does it even matter? The internationals start soon, then the World Cup in France. Oops... shouldn't mention World Cups in France in here... too soon.
The Olympics is huge. Millions tune into watching " walking " because it's a thing everyone identifies with as thier nation and showing nation pride. Given RU is more entertaining than walking but only marginally.

Rugby union has a wide enough range Of teams on equal enough footing to create the same national pride following- most don't know half the rules.
It'll always be big but it doesn't concern me , the NRL or any other professional sporting competition.

All blacks- 1 team.
NRL- 17 soon to be 18.. and so on..
9 games a week.

Gob, we've had the NRL for roughly 30 years now, the actual development tier NPC has more viewership in a 3 month period than the 26+ weeks of the NRL.

Lmao sure it does

keeping ra alive is weakening the nzru

I hope they double how much that sinkhole needs

nzru sold a share of the all blacks and now they are giving some of that money to Australia

excellent business model

I'd like to see those figures. I couldn't find anything on the NPC other than thier delight at have 1 game on TV a week. The fact nobody in Australia has even heard of that comp shows just how limited that market is.

If the NRL adds a team in NZ, it double whatever they're doing now with the Warriors.
