If someone in NZ wants to pay $10mill for origin thats great. The fact no one has yet despite the opportunity being there for quite a few years now seems like the only way it wil happen is if NRL wavers its hosting fee. At some point the 3 other cities arent goign to want origin again so soon so I suppose NRl needs to look at where next?

while up to 30K will travel from NSW the ACT & QLD to the " neutral " venues once every 3 years , they will want them as they generate major income

NZ2 best hope remains NRL getting a massive tv deal in 2028 and going to 20 clubs in 2033. They wont be club 18, no chance, so they are reliant on NRL going to 20 clubs and having enough money in the bank to be confident in taking a risk on backing a NZ2 south island club.

Tbf this thread was a troll thread to laugh about union, better suited to the fight club. Little to do with the realities of if NZ2 will be in the NRL anytime in the next decade or so.

It's not a new tactic. Make an announcement, see if you can generate interest and go from there.

The problem for them is it worked in Brisbane, Worked in Perth, Worked in PNG, but there hasn't been a peep from this side of the Tasman. It's happened for Magic round, it's happened for NZ2 and it's happening again for SOO. All the news comes from Aussie, not here.
