New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

You're incapable of an original post. You just post the same thing over and over. Starting to think that you're a chatbot 🤔

That's because you can't admit you are wrong. When it's clearly evident you are.

A second NRL in NZ would NOT "deal a massive blow to NZ rugby" not that it matters, because NZ2 clearly will not happen. There have been so many things posted since your ridiculous thread started to show this, but you are incapable of admitting the premise is now dead and buried.

Silly robot.

And it was completely wrong then, it is even more so now.

Lets summarise some things that have come out since then...

As to the possibility of NZ2:
Spark Sport, the reason for the increase in NZ sports rights, has folded. Sky will now bid much lower next time around, meaning, unlike the Warriors, NZ2 wont pay for itself.
Sky have stated they are at their limit on sports rights given the size of the NZ market.
Sky viewing figures that have been released for the Warriors are much less than previous years highs.
Australian broadcasters have stated a preference for an Aussie team rather than an NZ team. Understandable as they will want to make money from it, which they wont do from another NZ team.
The ARLC put out feelers around interest in the upcoming expansion possibility. THREE bids are official, Perth, PNG and another Brisbane. Zero from NZ.
Andrew Charlmers, the only person from NZ in the last dozen years to put forward interest in a bid, has said he has now lost the funding for it.
Multiple reports have come out that there is no corporate support for an NZ2 bid.
The ARLC has given their opinion on the likely place for the next licence. It is not NZ.

As to a potential damage NZ2 would do to NZ Rugby:
Super Rugby viewership in NZ is still as high as it has ever been.
Super Rugby only makes up 8% of NZRs income.
NZRs income went up by 40odd% last year alone.
NZRs player salaries are directly tied to NZRs increase in income.
NZR has signed up to the new Bi-Annual Nations League, which will significantly increase the sports rights for Rugby in NZ.

As to why NZ2 is a bad idea without vast amounts of investment in to grass roots before it happens.
League player numbers in NZ are in massive decline.
The regions are losing players, teams, and clubs
History has shown that an NRL team doesn't increase player numbers, it merely centralises players to the detriment of those regions.
Wellington Stadium won't have sufficient night games available for a team based there.
ChCh wont have a usable stadium until the 2027 season.

Now, if you have balls enough, refute those points... You wont, because you can't. So you will undoubtedly deflect and post emojis instead.

I had a great time in NZ but I didn't realise how big league was there until I went. It's as ripe if not riper for the picking than Brisbane.
It's going to be massive.

The guys posting on here aren’t your normal kiwis

every kiwi I’ve met loves the nrl

they love running rugby which is why they like league so much

it’s why it’s so much easier to get kiwis to like league than say people in Perth or Melbourne

kiwis get rugby and whenever there’s a good standard they will watch it

this thread would be so much better if you all just ignored the trolls. Everything they say is just made up bs

they are ruining an otherwise decent thread

quite an echo chamber lol

Maybe the pair of you could refute some of his argument? The old I've been and everyone loves RL is hardly rebuttal!

His arguments why NZ2 wont happen next:

'1. Spark Sport, the reason for the increase in NZ sports rights, has folded. Sky will now bid much lower next time around, meaning, unlike the Warriors, NZ2 wont pay for itself.
Sky have stated they are at their limit on sports rights given the size of the NZ market.

On these points.
1. I think is a fair call. Unless there is competition for Sky its unlikely they will choose to up their deal, second team or not
2. Theres no doubt Australian tv would prefer an Australian club for more Australian audience. Having said that the value is the ninth game content and if we get competitive bidding so I dont think Australian Tv will be dictating where club 18 is
3. No arguing that there isnt currently any interested bidding groups publicly come forward. Thats not to say if NRL opened up to a NZ bid there wouldnt be some come out of the woodwork. At the very least we know the Bears would bid for a NZ license.
4. I dont think we can judge that, corporates dont jump on board publicly until theres something certain to jump on board
5. This is true, no ARL Commissioner or Adbo has said that NZ is in the running for another license.
