Problem is it becomes a harder sell to other cities if they just give it away for free to some.

They wont give it away though. It's all splash in an attempt to illicit money from the either the ACC or NZ government. Problem is there just isn't the money available and wont be for many years yet.

they'll be lining up Tea cup

&
you know it

Small business will demand it ... the knock on benefits are huge
10 mill bucks for one game .. wow

Are you really that stupid? Or just not smart enough to see the obvious?

Due to the cyclone and preceding flooding, the Auckland City council is in the hole for billions. The new mayor was elected on promises of cutting spending, which he has done. The last budget had to include asset sales, and cuts to ALL non vital council services to prevent rates rises of more than 8%. The Major Events budget is one of those. There is no money to host a game, its really that simple. Even if they wanted to, they couldn't. Not that they would want to, a one off costing millions on the hope of another ten thousand Aussie tourists is not going to get it done.

And as for central government, unless a miracle happens there will be a change of government in October, to one that also wants to cut spending and taxes. A government for the white upper middle class who don't exactly hold League in a favourable light.

This is merely and attempt to generate interest in the hope that someone will put together a bid for NZ2. Doesn't appear to be working at all.

I love how gronks who know nothing about the nrl
Know that Auckland council won’t pay for it and that it won’t be massive

It's almost as funny as Australian inbreds who know nothing about the Auckland City Council, New Zealand, and just about anything at all, assume that a cost cutting council, after losing billions in a national emergency, will stump up cash they don't have, to host a game that doesn't hold any meaning to the vast majority of Aucklanders and New Zealanders in general.

You think Australia doesn't have natural disasters that cost the community billions you toffball twat ?
we are the quintessential definition of them

cash being stumped up everywhere here
why is that wanker ?

you need to spend it to generate more of it ,
so
they'll be lining up to spend it on RL's state of origin to be held in Auckland in 4 years time

the only reason the NRL would even consider this ( they don't need to , the 3 AFL capitals are on a once every 3 year rotation to host & are paying big coin to do it ) the only reason they're doing this

is its part of their longer term plan to introduce a 2nd NRL franchise in NZ
its happening , deal with it

That must mean that Perth and Adelaide will be entering the NRL as well. Right?

durrrrh
Perth will be team 18 Donkey boy , an almost universal opinion & yes , playing origins & club games there for the last 10 years has been part of that entry stategy
they'll be announced as team 18 , next year ... & enter in 2026

they'll be no additions in the life of the TV deal 2028-2032
teams 19 & 20
NZ2 & Brisb3
will be announced around 2030 , for entry in 2033

Adelaide is a long way off
but we will gladly take their $$ for Origins & maybe a club game or 2 til then

All that irrelevant waffle to once again demonstrate you don't know anything.

The ten year budget has been announced and ratified, with the cost cuts embedded, included in that was the announcement of no new spending on anything not considered essential. Go look it up muppet its on the ACC website.
There is plenty of spending going on in Auckland, but it is, and will be on infrastructure, not a vanity project for the NRL. A single game, for a fraction of the local population, that will only generate a few million dollars at best fro Auckland will not be spent on

You are an imbecile who can't even do basic research to see that you are talking out of your arse.
