But again that’s not what happened here. It wasn’t forcibly repossessed and there was compensation. And the CRL also had the problem of having an earthquake damaged facility they couldn’t afford to fix.
Yeh that’s why the people behind the crl are complaining promised we’re made and not fullfilled or whether they will ever return

Are they?
Are they?

“You can't escape the feeling that rugby league has been dudded.

The Canterbury Rugby Football League (CRFL) leased the Showgrounds from 1951. It owned the stands, but not the land.

After the earthquakes, the CRFL was between a rock and a hard place. Surrender the terms of its lease to allow a temporary stadium to be constructed to stage Crusaders games, or play on obstinately and earn the ire of the general sporting public.

“They did the responsible thing, but their generous gesture hasn't always been reciprocated.

Twice the grand final has been booted off the park due to people pandering to rugby union sensibilities.

League deserves a break. The civic authorities owe it the best facilities possible at the new Showgrounds at Nga Puna Wai.”

yep union and league get on harnoniously

Opinion piece. Funnily enough the exact same writer wrote an actual factual news story about it a few months earlier where he outlined exactly what I said in my previous post about the actual sub-leasing etc that you're ignoring.

This is another subject, like private school rugby in NZ, that you clearly prefer to wallow in your ignorance rather than just cop it on the chin and admit you're wrong.

I didn’t say they haven’t been good for French rugby league, I said they havent had any influence on the competitiveness of the French rugby league team.
Neither does Kayln Ponga have any influence on Perths competitiveness

This it to you and your other troll mates. Clearly the empathy is with the people of Chch and them being able to go and watch sport.

But carry on being knobs about it and fighting your forever war. I'll happily spend my weekends enjoying both codes.
f**k Union, the good folk of Christchurch can watch RL when the new team comes in. I have no sympathy for the phycopathic history of that sport. And stop trying to make out like the war between the codes doesn't exist. Union has taken every chance possible to take us down a peg.

Catalans has done nothing for French rugby league internationally. Toulouse will no doubt ril the team with English and nrl players as well. They had a chance and didnt have the resources to be sustainable in SL.

reality is it seems you need 100 plus players eligible for a country in a ft pro league to have any impact on quality of international side. Language and culture means you arent getting many French kids wanting to move to the north of England. Having been to south of France I can’t blame them!

you’d need 4 French clubs in SL and serious investment in French jnr rugby league befor you saw France competitive at international level.

Hopefully Toulouse can get some bigger money backers and one day be as succesful as Perpignan have been.
I will admit I probably know much less about SL than you, however, the pool of French professional players seems to be at an all time high right now doesn't it?

Nzru found it easy bullying the minor rugby leagues in the country

but dealing with the arl is a whole different kettle of fish. One they don’t have the firepower to match

I’ve never expected union to admit wrong and make reparations that would require a collective conscience

the better way is to keep growing and growing whilst their sport fails to keep up

you could see the fear when the admittance of the warriors caused them to embrace professionalism to stave off their players coming to league in ever greater numbers

Samoa & Tonga in RU, even with the new relaxed eligibility laws still didn't make it out of the group stages and never will again as the game moves on without them. Fiji did by the skin of their teeth but it's not going to be a consistent thing as again, the game moves on without them.

In RL Samoa (2021 finalist), Tonga (2017 Semi-Finalist), Fiji (2008, 2013 and 2017 Semi-Finalist) are at the pointy end of the sport and along with PNG will get stronger and stronger with annual tournaments against the top dogs Aus, NZ & Eng. As this continues into the future, interest will shift to RL. Slowly and first, but as momentum grows it's going to be a tide that RU won't be able to turn.

NZ will be the last hold-out in the Pacific but will eventually fall too.

Think he’s jumped off the brumbies bandwagon and is more just anti league with a bias towards afl

it all started when Canberra went back to the arl and the super league dream was crushed
Poor bastard, the Brumbies can't challenge the Raiders in Canberra anymore, either can GWS so he's clinging on to hope that a non-existent Canberra AFL team can be 'bigger than the raiders from day one'.

I've said it before. It is not a good time right now for those that hate our game.

you think our bunker is bad

samoa scored a try and the video ref looked at it and confined it. They took the conversion

the vr looked at it again and denied it

samoa would’ve beaten England

Raiders arl > raiders super league > brumbies > afl or any sport but rugby league

So you're just ignoring the content of the posts you're responding to now. Childish trolls be trolling.

The good folk of Chch wanted to watch the Crusaders, deal with it. If they didn't that ground wouldn't exist as a functioning sports ground today.
