Perth had its chance too hahaha

you and your double standards

super league had a chance at a much bigger footprint and rejected it

meanwhile we will add Perth nz2 and png greatly expanding our footprint
No SL war and Perth is still in, very different circumstances. only Toronto you could argue was a similar scenario to the culling of perth. And that was largely due to not paying players and refusing to show a business case to the RFL and clubs. Like the SL timing the covid timing alas killed off the Wolfpack.
The rest failed on the field or off the field of their own accord sadly.

maybe we will, or we might add brisbane3 and wait another 20 years lol

every failed club has excuses

at least we have the nrl as our flagship rugby league competition to actually grow the sport meaningfully for the benefit of all

In that case you would have no issue whatsoever with Addington being sub-leased from CRL, and re-developed, so that the folk of Christchurch can watch sport (including the one you hate) while waiting the many years for their new ground to be built.
No, union can get f**ked. I've made that pretty clear

I don't think there's too much going on today and it isn't a forever war.. it really not possible these days so much but you do need to understand that Union has stifled Rugby league on mass around the world throughout its history.
The RA director was trying to publicly undermine League less than a month ago.
It does happen whether or not you want to acknowledge it or not.
I've acknowledged this multiple times in this thread, but this is a thread about modern NZ specifically and you're responding to a discussion where one poster wanted to deny a city the use of ground/sports and other entertainment because of his commitment to a forever war.

Also, what does league have to fear from RA today? This is why the comments on this thread are so comical, the NRL is in rude health, there's no danger of it ever being taken over by rugby in Australia, yet if you followed this thread you'd think rugby is going to topple league tomorrow - while at the same time claiming the NRL is going to topple rugby in NZ. It's fubar.

Or they could’ve played games In Wellington

I think your wasting your time with that poster tbh every post defence rugby union no matter what
Why would the Crusaders play games in Wellington?! That’s just silly, Wellington has a team of its own

Also has a team.

I get what you’re trying to do but at least learn a bit about NZ before trying
Loads of grounds in the South Island

didn’t have to kick someone off their ground

Crusaders shared the ground with the centerbuy rl but forced them to move two grand finals

so they could’ve shared a ground elsewhere with a union team

As I said, you like to wallow in your ignorance.

The Showgrounds would still be in disrepair if the deal was not worked out between CRL and the council/presumably CRU. CRL would not have been able to afford to bring the ground back up to standard.

The Grand Finals were moved due to weather considerations - your mate who wrote his opinion piece that you're hanging your entire argument on pointed this out in a factual article.

There were no other usable grounds, because, there was a bloody earthquake that leveled the city.

The ground was sub-leased from the CRL, so they got paid for it.

There was one other ground in the Crusaders region that they could use, and they used it, but if they wanted the people of Chch to be able to attend games then the showgrounds were the only option. So, again, do you not have any empathy for the people of Chch? You want to deny them the ability to watch professional sport and have a ground left in disrepair because of your forever war.

Maybe you should be asking why didnt the crl have the resources to rebuild the stadium and hire it out to RU, thus earning revenue and maintaining the lease on it?

clearly they didn’t and so it was either have a stadium that wasn’t fit for use, or take some financial reward and hand it over.
