New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

The trajectory of League is what we're talking about and another team just kicks that up.
Yeah 1 game a week in a comp only staged once every 4 years- I've been watching the games! And to be fair, they've been good and close! But rare events are watched by many- is there anything more dull than an eclipse?
Mate, the ABs are the most watched sporting event every single year in NZ regardless of the RWC.

I don't think the All blacks or their popularity is anything to concern the NRL, the only subscribers they are really bringing in are bars. There's not a lot of people forking out for a subscription for 10 games a year, maybe 3 or 4 that are a contest- you just go to the pub .
We're discussing NZ still right? What on earth are you trying to say here? That people aren't subscribing for rugby because there's only 10 AB games a year? Bonkers.

The simple fact is the majority of Sky subscribers do so for rugby instead of just going down to the pub for the weekend. I think you're being confused by the fact you're watching games at the pub and not in people's homes on their Sky subscriptions.

Super Rugby is possibly worth it but it's in decline massively.
The genuine week to week Rugby contest in the southern hemisphere is the NRL- by far the biggest Rugby competition in the southern hemisphere if not the world
A declining Super rugby still has way higher viewership than the NRL. Outside of the Warriors the NRL does not have high viewership.

Yeah- it means a lot to sky and more by the day - exceptionally more with another team!
It means a lot for Sky historically, it saved the channel in the early 90s, but it's their number 2 sport.

Youre even more confusing lol.
Are you saying Sky pay 2.5 times more than NRl for All blacks or Super rugby?

Geez. If you're paying a sky subscription to watch the All blacks and just the All blacks, I suggest you are a very well off household! Nobody's paying a full subscription fee for 1 game. No normal people anyway. There needs to be enough content to justify your purchase- plan and simple. They lose the NRL, that's the tipping point for a lot of households. If you can't crasp that, good luck.

Does that guy ever post anything other than defending his beloved union lol

at club level it’s probably the case that the warriors are worth more to sky than the super rugby competition combined

with the warriors rating on par with the all blacks they would kill for more similar content

we have a lot of work to do for the kiwis though

their level of interest is marginal at best
The simple fact is unlike you, I'm a NZer, I've been following the Kiwis since the early 80s, the Warriors since I attended their inaugural game, I've played league in NZ, therefore your petty comments toward me because I am also a rugby fan, like the majority of my countrymen, are quite laughable.

You know nothing about league in NZ while purporting to be Mr Knowitall.

You know less about Super rugby, you're under the misapprehension that the games don't rate because of crowd figures but the two aren't linked:

You're just a keyboard warrior who disengages the moment anyone provides facts that prove your made up claims to be false.

The way it’s going if they had to pick one club comp to televise it will be the nrl

People aren't paying a Sky subscription just for the ABs, I was just responding to your post where you mentioned the ABs, they pay for the entirety of the rugby (Super and NPC).

If you can't grasp that the NRL isn't as important in NZ as you think it is then good luck.

I was listening to the radio here in nz today and they said one of the point that they don't like about the All blacks was that it's destroying grass roots Rugby. To quote nz radio " npc rip "
And you can boast Super Rugby numbers all you want but if you don't think that is in decline, you have your eyes painted on.
As it stands with the general public here in nz and I travel across it is this:
NPC nobody cares about
Super Rugby losing interest drastically
And anything other than a wc win by the All blacks will be considered a failure.
That's what's happening HERE.

NPC has been on fta and nobody gives a toss. Super Rugby is in decline.
It was you that pointed to the All blacks.
If you want to bundle it all together- then state as such.
The All blacks alone will have little impact on subscriptions.

Remember when that union troll said the Auckland council was broke and would never pay for events

then they just paid to host the pacific cup final and the game at Eden park

I’ve found that our union loving friends just post whatever bs they want which is devoid from reality

it’s good to have a league fan on the ground who reports the real situation for us

Which radio show, not talkback I hope? But a panel show.

The ABs aren't destroying grass roots rugby, but NZR is attempting to destroy the NPC.

The world cup win claim is B/S, until about a second after the final whistle in the Ireland match no one in the country expected a win by the ABs.

A declining Super rugby is still bigger to Sky than the NRL. I don't know why you are unable to grasp that the Warriors are one team that all nzers follow, but the rest of the NRL is not a huge rater. Meanwhile Super rugby will, due to the number of franchises, have at least one or two games a weekend that will match or outrate the Warriors on Sky and a couple of other games of interest.

The trouble is that died in the wool Union fans don't want to see the truth- I get it! They love the sport, played the sport, and thier friends were made playing the sport. They won't see things how they are.
Most of it actually comes from a good place. They wouldn't hold League back and they can't except this thing that gave them such joy would be in decline.
It's a tough position to be in.
Casual fans however... up the wahs 🤷‍♂️

At least you see the decline.
It's in decline.
NRL is growing.
Do the math
