one of the down sides of the arlc ceo and chair abdicating their responsibilities and not attending the RLWC was there was no IRL meeting and therefore no test calendar agreed!

So this cannot be done virtually? Have you heard of zoom? I’m sure there are plenty of ways to get a calendar together these days without flying people all over the world to sit in a room.

They need to be beating Australia.
I remember talking with a kiwi after they won in 2008. It was like he found his 1 true love lol
I was at the final when slater had that brain explosion and Benji won it for them

happy days

they should’ve beaten australia in the recent world cup too they were playing all over the top of them until half time

and that’s without many players who chose Tonga and samoa over the Kiwis

whereas in union the all blacks take the best islander players for their team

that’s the big difference

It could, but it wasn’t. And it shouldn’t have had to. It’s disgraceful neither of them could be arsed to go represent the arlc and attend a IRL meeting where the calendar should be locked in by now.

League will have its own pathways independent of schools. They have already increased funding to do this and are planning a National under 20s competition

they don’t need a semi professional comp to advance. They already tried it with the barter card cup

the next World Cup after France (2029) is in New Zealand and the pacific islands. Something they will never happen in union

the arlc is bringing in an end of season international tournament involving tonga samoa Australia nz

indeed samoa and tonga are pushing to play home internationals this year

for further evidence of the growth of int rl look at samoa and tonga in the last World Cup and their reception back home in their islands

/thread

Honestly you are wasting you time.

Things like Warriors running their own SG Ball and NSW Cup team apparently won't do anything.

Nor will the success of the island teams in the World Cup

Which players from Samoa and Tonga would you select and which Kiwi players would you swap out? Aside from Taumalolo of course who is obvious.

Also, proper eligible players only e.g. anyone playing Origin is ineligible. Arguably a guy like Spencer Leniu wouldn't be eligible either as he was only born in NZ and is basically an Aussie.

Oh and the ABs don't get the best Island players - we have Shannon Frizzell FFS. I think I'd rather have his brother.

In fact it’s all a waste of time. Don’t know why we bother at all 🤓

How much should a average player wage be in in a NZ top tier?
Do you mean how much is the average wage in the current NPC of how much should it be in the league version? In the league version I'm with Wb probably $70k and two sheep, three sheep for long service.

Interesting to see how the NRL and NZRL approach promoting the game in the South Pacific from hereon. My guess is that the NRL they envisions a 20 team comp. That leaves room for Perth, NZ2 and maybe PNG. If that’s the case a South Pacific wide strategy would definitely enhance the game in NZ. Hell but what would I know lol

Fiji now feeding into the Roosters NSW Cup team will be a good pathway.

Bulldogs have said they are taking a more hands on with NZ RL, In what form we are yet to know.

Warriors linking with community groups and running 2nd tier teams - That already doubles their amount of contracted players. The 1st one is a longer term
