If your going to compare them with the bears they might aswell be a merged entity with the like of either Perth or Adelaide, it will be the only way they'd get a licence, SEQ4 won't come in until licence 21, im fairly sure if they are happily making money off of expansion or get themselves flush with assets year on year by the end of 2030, theyll continue to expand to possiblly 22 teams, by then conferences will be in and a simpler structure to who plays who will make it easier for expansion to happen further
I think easts see themselves as a stand alone nrl club at some point in time and won’t partner with another city, they’ll sit and bide their time.

Yes i agree, but so does norths bears, hence why they seem to sleep with anyone offering a chance at a licence... seems the only way norths genuinely get back into the NRL as themselves, is if there is P&R or they pick up and move to a wanted city like Melbourne "2"
Easts on the other hand have too many obstacles to overcome, the Dolphins inclusion pushing it further away that theyll need another one so soon in SEQ, then there's broncos and titans nearby, and too many other areas under-represented around oceania, like your favourite perf, or adelaide and another NZ or Png

As far as famous hollywood stars there's not many from new Zealand, and the ones that are, were all born in or around Wellington, or atleast studied there.
Not sure why they need some Hollywood celebrity anyways...
As far as NZ male actors there's Karl Urban and Antony Starr, Temeura Morrison, Jemene Clement and Taika Watiti, but all hail from around Wellington, only morrison from rotarua.
Sam Neill at 74 is the only actor that's from South Island Christchurch, he is probably the only actor that has any affiliation with both the area and hollywood and has been off for the past year due to him having chemotherapy for blood cancer which in now in remission, so there's a good chance its him
Russell Crowe ;)

What a strange comment, Perth Red has been the biggest cheerleader for a WA based team. Hell he even gets shit about it from the types of posters who give your silly post a like.

Ironic that a poster with 50 odd posts is claiming someone else an alt ...
Strange comment?
Someone choosing to live 4000km from the nearest League team that talks smack about every single Rugby league prospect , achievement and it's administration...is a League fan?
And literally the only place he points to is the one without any team...
How can you not see this?
Wow.

Cause he’s another troll (union vs afl)
There's a lot of people feeling very threatened by league! Understandable!
We are in an unprecedented growth faze! To be finding negatives in such a time is not a fan of the game, it's impossible.
I've been a fan of the game my whole life, went through the sl war with clubs folding ect and the terrible feeling of considering that this game could die.. contrast now with first Souths came back, the the Titans.. Dolphins! Vegas! There's a game in Fiji ! NZ is heaving!
I could cry.
The game isn't alive, it's thriving! Growth on growth!
What kinda League fan would be so glum?? None- they're not fans.
It's that simple.

Meh why is this forum (like a lot of other things in life) purely framed as some sort of mass echo chamber or circle jerk - if they don’t think like I do then they are not a ‘true’ fan or they are not ‘true’ believers (religions are perfect at this)

It’s pretty juvenile. If you just want to agree with everything that you think or feel and not have your thoughts challenged then just don’t talk to anybody else.

People who disagree aren’t trolls

people who are always negative are

especially when they talk up rival sports

I don’t think it rules out the Wellington based guys. Especially as the bid isn’t specifically a Christchurch team. Personally I think they should set their sights on owning the South Island but also give a bit of love to Wellington and the lower north island- try to get half of the fanbase there. Imagine if they did that and played a derby match there every couple of years, it’d go off.

They want their echo chamber so they can make dumbarse statements without anyone calling them out. That's why wb1234 said that anyone he blocks also shouldn't be able to reply to him.

Their stance that anyone who has criticisms about the game is not a true fan is shown to be even more ridiculous by the fact that they hate the game so much that they state it can never be popular anywhere where afl existed first.

There has not been one bit of substance to the South Island bid to date

For some reason pointing out this fact makes people very sooky.

A recent article stated that they're looking at a couple of games in Dunedin as well as Christchurch, so they're specifically South Island but I agree that there should be some love for Wellington ( why not get as many fans as possible) having said that, it does create tribalism.

You're the biggest troll on here. You're unable to debate any factual point that you don't agree with without resorting to accusing the other poster of being a union/afl fan. If you're a kid/teenager it would be understandable, but I fear you're an adult with a teens maturity level. Another thread had to be created so we could actually have an adult conversation about the SI bid without you turning it into one of your trollfests.

Just how often you're wrong about anything NZ related does in fact keep this thread entertaining. Your latest one is posting a song from a movie and comic strip that is frequently about club rugby and All Black aspirations.

Sadly for them nrl doesn’t need another brisbane3. In all the talk of clubs 18-20 brisbane 3 hasn’t come up Once in last 6 months by anyone. their last ditch attempt at being the qlnd regional firehawks was bears like desperation.
NRL doesn't need or want a team in Perth.

Didn't the guests on the Bye Round Podcast place Brisbane 3 ahead of Perth?
