It could turn out to be unbelievable outcome for the game or an absolute disaster TBH. It just has to be done right.
It’s a financial disaster waiting to happen unfortunately and will ultimately end up being a financial albatross around the neck of the NRL.

Forever

it took Penrith 20 years to make their first finals and they were broke for much of it

despite you read on here png will have amongst the highest sponsorship in the game (not including png or Australian aid)
What sort of numbers are we talking about?

how much does it cost to run an NRL side?

Salary cap 12 mill
Nrl grant 15 mill

but it’s going up to 17 million per club

any club from day one should make a profit on small crowds given the current funding model. That’s the huge advantage of any expansion club

Australian govt - up to 25 million pa
Png govt - ?

corporates will be 5 million pa

Why can't we play some regular season games there first?

Do at least 3 games a year for three years.. why aren't we doing that first?

If they can't organise regular fixtures.. why would we give them a team?

The PM giving lip service to our neighbours...nothing more

It all looks and sounds good on paper but in reality sadly PNG is a poor 3rd world country with huge crime and social problems with a large section of the population living below the poverty line.
Yeahthey beat great britain who most feel are one of the richest countries in the world, what goes on off the field is inconsequential to watching RL or most sports
