Enough to run a club that isn’t dependent on government handouts. They’ve captured less than one percent of the market
what do you think that’s worth

They only started making a profit a few years agoEnough to run a club that isn’t dependent on government handouts.
More than 100% of a foreign third world nation in all likelihood. They’ve captured less than one percent of the market

Not strictly speaking true, some are still reliant on pokie den top ups to make a surplus. you go on about storm owners putting money in in the early years but some clubs still rely on millions a year from their owners to stay afloat. I’d hate to think how much clubs like the eels have required from their owners over last twenty years, it would dwarf what Storm owners have invested. They only started making a profit a few years ago
without news ltd handouts they would never have survived
I told you every club makes profit now
we could put a club in the simpsons desert and it would make a profit
You went to the University of east hull didn’t you ?More than 100% of a foreign third world nation in all likelihood.
who do you think pays for the junior comp in parra ? Eels lc pays for junior competitions in parraBradford actually
wtf has that to do with the eelsnrl club needing funding to keep going In same way Storm did early days. At least Storm are stand alone profitable now, eels still rely on pokie hand outs as do many clubs.
“The Eels reported a standalone profit of $1.047m for the year ended 31 October 2021. This was driven by the continued rise in revenue through being the No.1 NRL Club in memberships, having the highest home NRL crowd average in 2021 before the NSW shutdown, and the acquisitions and renewal of corporate partners including a new three-year contract with our principal partner Aland. Our financial performance was achieved without the need for any financial support from PLC –“Bradford actually

Maybe now with a big grant and a new stadium, but up to a couple of years ago they were losing $5mill a year which they need the LC to cover.Eels lc pays for junior competitions in parra
had to repeat it twice so obv uni of Bradford was crap

Once their in Australia, most games against them should be easier for their travel, same could be said if they were based in Brisbane or SydneyHow is being based in cairns positive for PNG?
Eh? they’ll be the only club to have to travel every game! How’s that easier? A “home”game is going to require an international return flight! 48 flights a year is going to get pretty tedious.Once their in Australia, most games against them should be easier for their travel, same could be said if they were based in Brisbane or Sydney

Personally I’d rather do 24 flights a year than 48!Easier from Cairns than from pot moresby or perf
But I’m talking about how a PNG based NRL team can bring positivity to that country i.e. Players visiting schools, hospitals, local businesses, giving interviews to local media outlets and getting involved in local community projects etc.Once their in Australia, most games against them should be easier for their travel, same could be said if they were based in Brisbane or Sydney
Ok its not about flights, it about immigration, plus where they are based... you want bennett for coach for example, you want cameron munster or jerome luai then cairns is a more attractive base than port moresby,... beside the NRL have said they want it to be a Pasifika team... PNGs only chance is to tow that line, not as a singular entityPersonally I’d rather do 24 flights a year than 48!
That wont happen if there is a nrl licence, but it will for games leading up to it throughout that week, same as any other clubs visiting png or pacific islandsBut I’m talking about how a PNG based NRL team can bring positivity to that country i.e. Players visiting schools, hospitals, local businesses, giving interviews to local media outlets and getting involved in local community projects etc.
can’t do any of that when you’re based in cairns.
Oh man, this idea just keeps getting worse.Ok its not about flights, it about immigration, plus where they are based... you want bennett for coach for example, you want cameron munster or jerome luai then cairns is a more attractive base than port moresby,... beside the NRL have said they want it to be a Pasifika team... It always has been, are you living under a rockOh man, this idea just keeps getting worse.
so it’s not even going to be a PNG team but a pasifika team instead?
I was under the impression that a pasifika team was a separate bid based in New Zealand similar to the super rugby team.It always has been, are you living under a rock
