My experience of Canberra is f**king hot in summer and f**king freezing in winter
Cool in winter

it was 3 deg for a Sunday nrl game

Most humans would agree
It's freezing in Canberra during the winter and hot as f**k in the summer.

Your mate mongoose fled to Brisbane as a refugee because he got frost bite on his cl*t at Bruce Stadium. He thawed it out on a Gold Coast beach and got sand up his vag.
Canberra gets about as hot as Sydney in Summer, in fact it's normally a little milder than any of it that isn't directly on the coast and it's not as humid. Only the ignorant soft cocks that make up the population of this country these days would describe Canberra as particularly cold, and they wouldn't know genuinely freezing cold temperatures even if they bit them on the arse.

Canberra's average high during the coldest months would be about 10-12°C during daylight hours. At it's absolute coldest Canberra is lucky to get as low as about -5°C for a couple hours very early in the morning a few days a year on average, if that some years. It rarely snows, and I could count on one hand the amount of times that it's been cold enough to blanket in my whole life time. By global standards that's a relatively mild winter, and most would consider Canberra pretty hot generally speaking, and be significantly more concerned about the 35°C+ days.

This is what genuine frostbite inducing cold at sports events looks like, and it's not that unusual in significant parts of the northern hemisphere-

Canberra has an Ikea though, you should like it.

You're an idiot for thinking Tweed Heads is separate to the Gold Coast and should be in the NSW cup, you've obviously never spent any time around the area. People literally walk across the border every day just to get coffee or go to the bank or run errands.
Have they not got kettles.

Pathways are the key to success

churn out nrl players en masse
Gotta extend pathways into schools, particularly into the provinces.
In NZ at the moment and there was an interview on the radio with Piri Weepu (73 test All Black). He mentioned he wanted to pursue a career in the NRL (His brother played 13 games or so for Manly 95-97)- the reason he didn’t?- there was simply nowhere for him to play league (schooling in Hawkes Bay) so he played Union and got picked up in the Hurricanes System.
He also mentioned being in talks to go to the Knights when he was jaded over being overlooked by the All Blacks for the 2007 World Cup but it was his brother who talked him out of it.
NZ would hugely benefit from a presence in schools particularly outside of Auckland

Nrl clubs can just utilise the union system without wasting money on duplication

Nz derby

the whole nation will watch

north vs south
If NZ got a second team, the derby would be the most watched game of Rugby league in the history of Rugby league in New Zealand by a big margin!
That alone is reason for a second team in NZ. Can you imagine the advertising dollars for sky during that game? The sky deal would be worth considerably more just for the 2 derby games..!

I think New Zealand can support three teams. There's more to gain from NZ2 and NZ3 than Adelaide and Perth.

Once NZ get a second team and the NRL recognises the massive potential, a third will be on the cards as has happened with Brisbane.
Brisbane needs a minimum of 10 years before another club though.
Realistically:
NZ 2 - 2027
Perth- 2032
Brisbane 3- 2037

Yes and no. Plenty of transferable skills and professional sports set up but you miss out on quite a few of the subtle fundamentals which has been the bane of many an NZ league player. Remember an interview with Daniel Anderson when he took over from the Warriors- he had to teach seasoned professionals basic fundamentals.
Someone playing the game from a younger age helps keep them in the game also

If NZ2 is brought in for the 2028 season then Brisbane 3 coupe come in for the 2032. Dolphins will have been in the NRL for a decade in 2032.

NZ3 for 2037.

Hopefully there is a strong consortium behind it.
