Besides, you can't sack a coach without first offering a suitable and better replacement...
Injuries and fade outs have creuled the warriors this year, I dare say a fit and firing Luke Metcalf at 6 with TeMare Martin at 7 (after SJ retires) for an extended period of time will see them back in the top4, and along with Big Fish next year, will see more gritt defensively, to stop blow-outs....

Coz when SJ is injured they are in shambles for the extra 2 points... how many games they lost this year, coz they missed conversions, I'll tell you its four games

He works better with metcalf as his 6, Martin is too like for like, forces SJ to be more of a 6, hence the stupid bombs, bad last minute ideas, when he is on as a 7, he is pretty ruthless, just needs that five eighth to scare the opposition, metcalf does that in spades, how many darts did the kid do last season, he is a weapon

Yeah they got belted by the Bronc (look at them for another example of how quickly it can turn) and if you look back you could see a few wobbles from about 6 weeks out, however from where they were in ‘22 Webster turned it around pretty quickly.
This year teams caught on and he was found out in a few areas and can’t say I like his stubborn backing of certain players but you’d have to give him the benefit of the doubt with the horror run of injuries we’ve had this season. People forget at times we’ve had 1 of our first choice backs available, 1/3 of our squad injured, long term injuries to Tohu and Niukore etc.
I don’t blame SJ he was forced to play well past when he should have with injury and was essentially a passenger out there and it showed. His bombs on the last are frustrating at times but you can tell it’s an instructed game plan, idea being to negate the set starts and pin the team close to their line for field position, however we’ve been reffed out of that being effective for us as teams tend to get marched down the field more often than not- which highlights one of Webster flaws as his ability to adapt when things aren’t working.
He still seems the best man for the job and willing to give him a few years grace to see what he can build as we can’t afford to keep cycling through coaches

Yea I agree... its a bit controversial to say this because there's so much love for Fish on both sides of the ditch, but as a pure meter eater, I think we lose something without AFB. His foot speed and late footwork is pretty special, as much as I've gone off him as a person.

Fish is still elite of course but I think his real legacy for us will come from his leadership. I'm hoping he does for us what Crichton has done for the Dogs and I'd be pretty disappointed if he isnt made skip the first day of preseason.

Yea agree re: Fish's consistency is top tier. But I actually think AFB's been very good for us this year. Hasn't shot the lights out like last year, and he had that meltdown during Magic Round, but overall he's been strong IMO.

Our biggest problem has been the halves. SJ has been playing busted (if at all), Metcalf has been out for months and TMM/CHT have been wildly inconsistent.

Even if AFB did play like last year, I dont think we'd be much better than where we are now TBH. Much like how the Broncs are struggling despite Haas still punching out the numbers, our clunky execution isn't taking advantage of the good work in the middle by AFB and Barnett.

I think one of the main reasons we have a short average try distance is we a severely lacking in speed, the DWZ try started by RTS in the weekend is the first time in ages I’ve seen us get a length of the field try

AFB is a tough one to judge, he often looks like he’s phoning it in but when he decides to turn it on he seems to be able to do things with ease. Looking at his stats though he’s killing it. Will definitely miss him next year but we can certainly do worse than Fish as a replacement
