well he is quoting some facts, if you think they paint the NRl in a good light or not I guess is up to you.
1. Only met with 1 out of the 3 bids (the dodgiest one at that)
2. Didnt meet the Mayor (who Id have thought theyd want to be having a conversation with about training facilities and jnr fuding)
3. Didnt take the time to inspect the facilities that are being built and that would benefit a club

the rest is a bit of whinge agreed but probably reflects the view over there which is being mirrored in the West.

The comment about the tender process being a fishing exercise does seem to be ringing true
Yes.. they met with one of the bids ...😎

Even if they don’t want a team from there… it’s pretty ordinary to just brush them … PVL is starting to come across very poorly here … something has changed over the past month … maybe they are getting some bad early news on the TV deal maybe ?
I did wonder if it is Tv or clubs that have suddenly changed the NRL attitude to expansion. Its a massive backflip from a couple of months ago.

This is a very slanderous article pure and simple. It's a personal gripe.
They can't meet everyone for the hell of it..can you imagine how many people want a meeting with V’landys?they meet people that they intend on doing business with... and they met with one of the bids.

it’s only just on a month since the media was saying that Perth and PNG will be announced a week after the GF…

I would suggest you have identified the two most likely culprits that might have changed things

It’s not like he is in Christchurch every week though …I dont think it’s too big a deal to spend an hour each with the three bids and then meet up with the Mayor…he probably won’t be back there in the next year at least …

I think you mean libellous.

What parts are libellous, in your opinion?

PVL doesn't have time to meet with the bid teams, is certainly a take.

Pretty poor form by PVL, surely doesn’t take too much effort to show a bit of courtesy while you are in town? Looks like he’s shown a his hand unfortunately.
The general NZ public tends to think the NRL show disdain for them, this appears to be another reason to think that. It’s discouraging fans when rather than encouraging them

PVL probably didn't meet the Christchurch mayor as the stadium is not being built exclusively for NRL games and NRL club wouldn't have sole management rights and therefore wouldn't count towards any government contribution towards a team.

Or he could have had concerns that he might have been on the wrong end of a Perth Red style lecture from the mayor, that they were owed a team already because he just spent $680m on the NRL club with the new stadium ..
