IMO our middle forwards have at least matched, if not gotten the better of, two good packs in both trials in both attack and defence. Glasby, Gavet & Klemmer all really put in the extra effort to get players on their backs and slow the opposition down which is something we've been awful at for years. Daifiti has had slow starts to the past 2 seasons, but he was great in both trials and looks to be in the best shape of his career so far. Herman has been very strong coming off the bench also.

Hard to really judge because we never held onto the ball enough today to build any actual pressure in attack, but the halves/outside back combinations looked clunky. Jesse was bulldozing defenders every time he got the ball, but I don't think he touched it once in an attacking position or off early ball from Pearce.

The jury is still out on our defence. Lapses in concentration/effort seemed to be our biggest enemy. You would hope that won't be the case when there's competition points up for grabs.

I thought the same, he's a beast. Last season we were number 1 for strike rate inside opposition 20, if we can get that man some ball we'll be even more lethal.

just watching the trial vs sharkies for the second time. I have a feeling many of us are going to be frustrated by Watson's seeming inability to pass. Obviously he'll never be a playmaking fullback in the Kalyn Ponga mould, but I'm afraid he's still going to have to link up with the outside backs if we're to be functioning optimally as a unit. There's no doubting his strength is his running game, but he's still gotta pass sometimes

We’ve had a good run of ball playing fullbacks:
Odavis
Thaiday
Gidley
Boyd
Ponga

Hopefully as the season goes on Watson improves in this area.

I remember Watson laying on a few tries last year with his passing. A couple off the top of my head - he put Guerra though a hole against Canberra in round 2 and that little inside ball to SKD when we came back against the Titans at home later in the season.

I’m sure there were a few more, considering Watson didn’t play many games last year it’s hard to judge at this stage, I’m sure they’ve worked on it during the off season so let’s wait and see.

It's a fair concern. Full back, hooker and outside backs looked our weak points going in. Levi could be coming good but the other two still TBD.

After three weeks I think our best side is:

1. Ponga
2. Lee
3. Hunt
4. Ramien
5. SKD

6. Watson/Mann
7. Pearce

8. Klemmer
9. Levi/Upgrade
10. Gavet
11. Fitzy
12. Sione
13. Glasby

14. Mann/Levi
15. Guerra
16. Barnnet
17. Saifiti

18. Ese'ese
19. Saifiti
20. Pastrami Sandwich
21. Lino

Hope we see something like this for the rest of the season.
