Did you even read the article? There is several newspaper articles included with crowd figures. From the archives of a toronto newspaper. Sure, the 30k crowd isn't listed but two crowds of 24k and 18k are. Not bad at all.

This is a very simple request. All I've asked for are some crowd pictures from an unusual event.

We've got pictures of man walking on the moon in the 1960's, why is finding and posting pics of this 30'000 crowd in 1980's Canada such an issue?

Was the match played in Canada or the Nevada desert?

Why do others have to do the work for you? Go research the toronto archives. There's match reports there. Maybe there is images.

You have people on here that were there at the matches offering you insight, you have others directing you to newspaper articles and videos, yet you want more evidence.

one event was one of the biggest events in human history. the other is just an australian football match in canada in the 1980's. i don't think many would bother posting pics of that exhibition match

So for those not following the NRL deal thing, a Newscorp lacky has spouted the following:

Whilst Newscorp are a bunch of evil people, you cannot deny they have the resources to give international league a serious shot in the arm if they chose to do so, specifically in the US. Will we see any substance to this, or just hot air?

It's already worrying that they talk of NRL on the global stage rather than rugby league in general, but that may just be because it is a Victorian and he doesn't know any better.

The best way to expand the interest in a game is to bring it to a person's door step. I'm not talking about big celebrities telling about how they love their NRL team or putting on Exhibition games between pro teams, but by creating long term tangible things in that country.

Russel Crowe a few years back (2010 i believe) was on Jay Leno or something and talked about how Souths bought Greg Inglis. He's also tweeted and tried to convince millions of Americans to love South Sydney. Although this has made more people aware of the NRL and Souths, there won't be a massive demand for sales or jerseys in the states for Rabbitohs merchandise.

Jarryd Hayne's hype in the NFL and our big connections in media can help, but the truest way to help expand the sport is by making domestic development and competitions in that country where people who live there have a personal connection to that sport.

The USARL have done fantastic work expanding the game in the States and the people who work behind the scenes there who go to local neighborhoods for sponsors, TV interviews, flyer runs etc for the local domestic USA clubs are doing a 1000 times better job for long term fans and supporters for the sport in the USA than Russel Crowe and Jarryd Hayne.

If we really want to use our "global" resources to help expand the game, we need to point out the people who are doing the hard yards on the ground like the USARL and Canada Rugby League etc via media outlets.

If Jarryd Hayne told people on live television about the USARL, it would help those guys greatly!

I really like the comment that in order to make an impact we need to bring it to their doorstep... Would... an international round work? Played over two weeks.. and we take an NRL round of games around the world? There has been talks about taking a game to China and Hong Kong seems like a good market.. Take a South's game to America along with Russel Crowe.. A game to Fiji.. and so on... In America they could line it up with a USA Canada game or something like that.. It's wild I know but maybe there is an opportunity.. Again you would probably need to lop a week of the competition to make it more possible..

Sinman, your idea is too bold for anyone in RL to handle, we would get the usual whiners cry that they are taking games away from the real fans and the NRL would kowtow to these blinkered swines.
