Bullshit.

And this merkin calls people not from Sydney with nothing to do with Sydney Sydney centric but then eqates NSW and qld with Sydney and Brisbane. You couldn't make it up.

You haven't replied with one fact the whole time.

This is unprecedented live FTA coverage, fact.

Wow, did he really do that? What a f**kwhit. The club's aren't that dumb - it'd be the sporting equivalent of dumping a PM mid term. Just suicide.

Some traitorous clubs are dumb enough, if the cash is right.

Just like last time.

Short memory

Any club who considers defecting has a heck of a f**king short memory and zero brains. The game has a billion bucks already sealed and double the live FTA exposure we had last time and there's two more years to negotiate...

Last time there was a split it almost killed the game. Anyone who is serously suggesting clubs would have both forgotten how damaged the game was by the super league war AND are that panicked with the conditions we've already won with over two years left that they're now considering such a risky move ... well they're either full of shit or they've heard it from someone who's full of shit.

Relax, it's the same bs 12 club revolt story news have been pushing for the last month, it's nonsense, they are united as far as a collective bargaining agreement on club funding.

There are three clubs within that 12 that are ideologically opposed to how the NRL is being run and that's Gould, Politis & dib, they want more control in how the game is run and believe the NRL should be wound back to essential services with all other money going to the clubs. Even then, Gould has backed Smiths deal with Nine and has said the NRL consulted with foxsports extensively before doing the deal with 9, they were not blindsided. Under the new deal with Nine, clubs will gain far more exposure for sponsors which will mean they can ask for more money.

The narrative that News Corp are trying to sell is that Dave Smith is a lone wolf who was naive or deliberately provocative in sidelining Foxtel from negotiations and in doing so has made a gigantic & amateur blunder costing the game a billion dollars. THIS IS CRAP! Smith doesn't have the authority or autonomy, just like most CEO's in any organisation he would have had to consult with & receive permission from his board, the ARLC, for the strategy they taking with negotiations. Moreover, any deal has to be signed off on by the commission, including Graeme Samuel, and despite popular belief, these people are not stupid.

I have no idea where these current rumours come from & I'd pay them no notice.

The similarities are there though.

The game is on the verge of a huge cash injection. It is this that prompted the split last time. Good old greed. Everyone wants unity when there is no cash, when backs are against the wall.

The other correlation is that no-one saw it coming last time either. Who cared if Brisbane and some upstarts wanted to piss off. Let them.

But then the treachery from Canterbury, Penrith, Cronulla and to a lesser extent Canberra happened.

Based on the cash that's on it's way and the merkins involved it's lucky there is a payTV monopoly here or the same mess could be repeated.
