Anyone watch it last night? Shaun Micallef is a love-him-or-hate-him type, and I've been entrenched on the love side since the days of David McGahan and Milo Kerrigan. Newstopia was pretty dang hilarious I thought, looks a good vehicle for his deadpan, wordy style of humour.

I liked the forced awkwardness between Micalef and Ed Kavalee, not a bad show at all, i'll come back for another look next week.

Haha, those were the days.

I laughed for 30 mins straight during Newstopia, the man is a genius.

Pity though, I don't thjink it will get a following.

I thought it was good. Definitely deadpan, and with no studio ausience, you had to make up your own mind where to laugh.

Ed Kavalee's sports reporter is taken directly from his radio show, so no real work was done there.

Micallef is great, and I enjoyed Newstopia. I kind of thought it was like 'The Nation' but not horses*it. I love his style of humour, his book, 'Smithereens', is some of his best work also.

Just watched the second episode online (missed the first ep, unfortunately) and thought it was pretty lol. Loved the Les Murray gag.

I didn't think last night was as funny as the previous episode.

Just have to love Wednesday evenings though: Chaser, Summer Heights High and micallef.

Funniest man on Australian television. His best work was definately the Micallef P(r)ogram(me) though. That sh*t all over full frontal.

Have to agree. I bought the Micallef P(r)ogram(me) box set on the weekend. I've only watched a couple of discs so far but I'm pretty sure it has the best laughs-per-hour (lph) ratio of any dvd in my collection. I don't mean giggles either - thats an entirely different measurement (gph) - I mean loud, hearty guffaws.

love Micallef!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loved him in Full Frontal as Milo and Fabio and even a couple of years ago had his own program on the ABC ( pissed can't remember it) but got the DVD for it as well.

Very smart humour and either like or dont. A very underrated comedian.
