Mon-Wed is perfect for NRLW.
Yeh mine just cut most of their newsroomsWith all this doom and gloom about FTA dying won't this have a hugely negative effect on the next NRL FTA deal ?
If FTA have a less money to play with thier next offer could be lower than the last deal ?
It’s been speculated that the upcoming TV deal, or the next will be the pinnacle of broadcasting revenue which is why you’re seeing NRL clubs & the ARLC buying hotels and pubs/clubs to future proof themselves. With all this doom and gloom about FTA dying won't this have a hugely negative effect on the next NRL FTA deal ?

Yeah, it's my understanding the Roosters have done well investing in property alsoIt’s been speculated that the upcoming TV deal, or the next will be the pinnacle of broadcasting revenue which is why you’re seeing NRL clubs & the ARLC buying hotels and pubs/clubs to future proof themselves.
I think Canberra Raiders have an impressive real estate portfolio
Dolphins own their stadium, a shopping centre and a fitness centreRaiders have around 150 in property assets
roosters bought the whole block around their leagues club to do a high rise project one day
Cronulla own the ground the leagues club a commercial premises which is a gym and the Kareela gold club
But if advertising revenue is dropping surely that will effect what 9 or 7 can offer ?It’s been speculated that the upcoming TV deal, or the next will be the pinnacle of broadcasting revenue which is why you’re seeing NRL clubs & the ARLC buying hotels and pubs/clubs to future proof themselves.

It's literally life or death time. I have companies that were 80% FTA spends now doing about 10% that former volume.
But if advertising revenue is dropping surely that will effect what 9 or 7 can offer ?
Last year FTA advertising spending dropped by 11%...that will have a knock on effect with FTA offering 11% lower for NRL rights ?
In fairness to FTA they were offering streaming long before most streaming services via thier apps.I'm not doubting you. It's more I doubt the competence of those running FTA TV networks to adapt to changing times, because to date, they have shown they haven't. In fact they show their resistance to it.
paywalled, can someone cut and paste pleaseArticle in SMH that they want to start negotiations for the next rights now that they can sell the digital rights of SOO to Netflix and Amazon.
NRL to test broadcast rights waters as streaming loophole appears
The code is set to go to market for its next TV deal this year, seizing on anti-siphoning laws that allow it to sell digital rights to global players such as Amazon.www.smh.com.au
Nearly a quarter of the national audience of 3.65 million that tuned in for the third match of the State of Origin series on Wednesday night watched it via Nine’s free app 9Now, making it the second-highest streamed live sports event in Australia behind the Matildas’ World Cup semi-final against England last year, viewed by 957,000 people on 7Plus.“It doesn’t mean they’ll do that, but it certainly opens a door that wasn’t previously open. It’s a big reduction in the scope of the anti-siphoning rules.”
Prime Video is my choice. They provide a good service at a low price. Their coverage of the ICC T20 was excellent.Article in SMH that they want to start negotiations for the next rights now that they can sell the digital rights of SOO to Netflix and Amazon.
