Deal across different platforms & providers is way to go. Netflix & amazon opens international markets.

Yes but for that to work NRL needs to handle production, Fox won't produce it for others to benefit. That is another TV deal away

I'm not doubting you. It's more I doubt the competence of those running FTA TV networks to adapt to changing times, because to date, they have shown they haven't. In fact they show their resistance to it.

Genuinely, one of the dumbest speeches I have ever seen came from a C7 exec back in about 2012.

When asked about people pirating US shows and whether C7 would fast-track then to Aus, he said some tough-guy rubbish like “we do not negotiate with pirates”.

So he ignores reality and pretends that the morally correct thing is to continue the exploit the FTAs dying oligopoly and screw audiences for as long as possible. What a hero….

Does NBA handle of it's games?!

The teams do yes. I follow the Knicks and Mike Breen is their caller on MSG and does ESPN on the days they show the games.

Similar have would require Netflix to hire their own staff for their NRL games.

It works if NRL directly has the pictures and staff. They can have a director do all multiple days and commentators like Fox does

Given the value of origin has been put at $30mill plus, it means ch9 is only paying $85mill cash a year for 3 simu cast games a week plus finals and exclusive GF. Even with falling advertising you’d have to think nrland origin split is worth more than that?
