Sure there’s that but you have to schedule it properly. It may happen (like anything else) but how would you schedule a competition over 5 days considering how physical the game is.
Yeh some of the turnarounds will be less than five days

clubs and players get paid so well so they better stfu.

Re the cash component part for NRL.

Channel 9 was announced as a $575m deal over 5 years, They then announced the contra of $15m later in the release.

So on the part we know of the deal it was announced as cash
Nope, it was announced same time, both cash and contra amounts

Nine will pay $115 million per season for the game's free-to-air rights, with an additional $15 million in contra and other deals.

It comes after the last deal was worth slightly less, at a combined $125 million per year, which was then slashed to around $90 million a year last season due to COVID-19.
"We are very pleased with the fact we were able to get an uptick, because many people were thinking we would do well to get back to pre-COVID levels," Abdo said.

Half the games on foxtel can be garbage and they still rate better than anyone else
Only 1 % of the population is watching games on fox. That’ll be even less with teams having less than 5 day turn arounds As quality suffers.
Monday night is dumb and you should feel dumb thinking its a good idea.

Hopefully ch10 and paramount!
the last thing the game needs is another game time that creates games being played in empty stadiums. and that’s before we consider the scheduling nightmare of 4 day turn arounds.

Yes but you want to charge premium to tv and Subscribers then you need to have the best produce. 5 day turn arounds as a minimum helps that

The 1st key point

$115m deal with Ch9.

Matches how the SMH and other news outlets reported it as a $575m deal. Contra is mentioned in the Story as being additional

Point is in was never announced as just a $575mill deal. It was announced with the contra amount included in the detail.

''Nine will pay $115 million per season for the game's free-to-air rights, with an additional $15 million in contra and other deals.''

Deal is 130m a year with contra, clearly stated in many of the articles.

Yes they did some of fox highest ratings of the week
Source? What was the ratings and how did they compare? Was it worth screwing the product and active fanbase for? We got more money after we dropped it. Sounds like your the only one convinced its coming back! Its much more likely to return, if ever, when the NRL goes to 20 clubs.

“We would have to carefully consider it,” NRL CEO Anthony Abdo told News Corp.
“Having the nine fixtures is a great thing, it's more football for fans, more games. When it would be played, obviously, that would be a very strategic consideration."
"There is a whole range of factors that need to be considered.”

Fox Sports Executive Director Steve Crawley believes that even if more teams are introduced it is more likely to play an extra game on Sunday. You could definitely go to three games on a Sunday. If you can have a 2pm and 4pm game, you can have one at 6pm. There is a hole there,” Crawley said to News Corp.

You know they replaced mnf for Friday 6 pm don’t you

fox kicked up a huge tantrum at smith cutting it without discussion then got him sacked

yes I do,
kind of. Smith sold Thurday night to FTA for massive amount of money more, which necessitated the cutting of Monday night. Why? Because its a dumb idea to have footy on 5 nights a week!
And Fox got rights to simucast every game so were hardly hard done by!
