It really is the simple, We have expansion due to the TV deal being done. Announced actual figures not including Stadium upgrades, Which has gotten everyone's expectations out of reality

The pre-Covid deal was $350m.
Like the TV side of things you are adding projections of inflation in that.

Ads in 2031 will cost more then they do now to film and to broadcast on the website. $500m across the 7 years seems fair.

$500m TV seems accurate. Remembering that goes until 2031.

The NRL starts at $407m but allowing for inflation in 2027. Ends at $460m

Which allowing for 2032 figures you are adding $60m to that.

2028 NRL money starts at $520m + whatever value team 18 adds.

If AFR is correct and that cash that is way in front going this week. Even if that adds contra the end game is the same result.

Cricket also went post covid and didn't even cover inflation

As they say “show me the money”!
Personally I’d rather have seen the nrl get an extra $150mill a year and wait a bit longer for expansion, hell we’d have had enough money to go straight to 18 clubs in 2025 If they’d landed an afl size deal.
They showed them the money ATT thus they were able to expand.
I'll bet my left one, if the expanded team had been the Perth Whiners when the decision was given in October 2021, you'd be stating the timing was perfect.
But but it don't suit your narrative.
You talk about waiting longer.Have you been keeping pace with the IMF and other leading financials showing a growing pessimism towards a recession.Builders in this country have been going down the tube. fast food deliverers, new IT set ups and the huge bounce in interest rates. The U.S has huge debt $30T.
You love hypotheticals "IF".
Ask yourself the question IF there was no COVID crap ,how would we all be sailing.Debts would be far less.
Hindsight is the argument of the would bees.

You think Telstra are paying avg $70mill cash a year?

After all this time you still dont understand how tv deal payments work? Its got nothing to do with inflation! So if the NRl announce a TV deal worth an 'AVG $400mill' thats not the start point, thats the avg over the duration of the deal. With the accountancy rules they start below $400mill and go over $400mill by the end of the deal, giving an avg of $400mill.

so for us with a 5 year $2bill deal worth around $370mill a year cash avg it will be around (on 2% shift)
2023 $355.5mill
2024 $362.5mill
2025 $370mill
2026 $377.4mill
2027 $385mill

so for us

Why would they not be? they will charge more to advertise in 2031 compared to now

with a record total media rights revenue for the game in excess of $400m per annum.

No where does it say average, Nor an actual total as opposed to AFL.

The salary cap is rising each year, As revenue is expected too. So of course TV will go up each year

No salary cap doesnt go up each year lol. No a deal announced as $400mill a year and $2billion total isnt going to start at $400mill and go up each year lol.
Sheesh it really isnt hard to udnerstand how tv payments have worked since 2018!

For example in 2018 the new tv deal kicked in which was reported at $380mil a year cash and contra. 2017 media revenue was $318mill. 2019 media revenue was $324.5mill, contra $16mill value each year. and so it goes.

re Telstra, the goons on here kept saying it was all contra and in-kind stadium development, now you're saying its $70mill a year? a massive increase on their last deal payment?

The AFL has started their 'new' deal running from 2023 to 2024 (two years) and they getting $473m million including (Non Tv Telstra) .... (now) not the $570m you go on about. What's more I can see the NRL opening negotiations soon , like one year from Now ie mid 2024 , if it's good enough for the AFL to negotiated two deals out , why cant we.
If we put together a package of pre season Nines Internationals and after season International... well the sky's the limit.

Im literally talking about their new deal, not the 2 year extension they signed in covid. And yes there is a 3 year cross over between their new deal and our new deal 25,26&27.

Yes of course they can try and renegotiate anytime they like. remember when the story was NRL was going to demand more money straight after the AFL deal came out? That went well lol
But they'd need something significant to offer to get any sort of upturn (a lot more than pre season nines and internationals that draw less than a regular NRl game) on the $400mill they have in the bag for the next 5 years.

The very worse case scenario is they renegotiate with the3 incumbents for a few mill extra and extend the deal out again. Only way we see a significant uplift is to have rivals bidding against each other and driving the price up.

I was given a mission at birth (if I should chose to accept it) to respond to people who pretend to be one thing and are in fact the complete opposite. In war time they are called traitors or 5th columnists.
In sport they are known as dart boards. I love darts .

Now with expansion included in theirs

The more that comes out - As predicted the less crazy the deal is. Some people really lost their shit over nothing.

Need a couple of more years to see how stable Stan is. Ch10 to get their regionals in place

No one is really sure if expansion is included, Mclachlan only said it anticipates it - far from certain.

There was no change in the money for the next 2 years, With adding the extra round.

We will see if an amended deal is announced here I guess, An average of $550m ( TV money ) a year allowing for 20 odd % inflation an extra round and now another team.
Certainly doesn't seem like huge overs most on here were losing their minds over

Gather round and tasmania

if gill had admitted before they needed a Tasmanian team as part of the tv deal the Tasmanian govt would’ve had them over a barrell

by keeping it secret he pretends they don’t really want them unless they get a new stadium and voila, here we are

in terms of duplicity it’s up there and exactly the kind of dishonesty I expected from gillon
