I know as an AFL fan you missed the news.

NRLW Origin is 3 games on Thursday night. No other games. So Fox has no footy on those nights

Exclusive to ch9, There is no way ch9 aren't paying for the game to be exclusive.

So the deal changed
haha you think ch9 paid anything for NRLW origin after refusing to pay anything for Dolphins and 47% extra Brisbane content?

Again. As you aren't a RL fan you may of not noticed but Every Super Saturday contained a QLD side now because of The Dolphins.

That is why they paid as opposed to ch9 not getting any extra games.

You think Fox wouldn't of offered anything to be able to show the games?

The fact they are exclusive means ch9 paid up

haha yeh course it does. Pays nothing for another brisbane club and 47% more valuable content in Brisbane, but stumped up tens of millions for womens origin after the a deal was signed. Makes total sense!

That doesn't answer my question.

Yes or no

Do you think Fox would of wanted to not show the womens Origin?

I think they'd be indifferent. Its not a big audience and doesnt drive any new subscriptions. I certainly dont think they'd pay millions for it.

The game pulled in almost 1m fans last year, Womens sport in particular is starting to get more casual fans watching that number will grow.

Throw in that the players now get $15k each per game, added cost of putting on an extra game. Also the NRL atm would sell a family member to make extra revenue. There is no way it was just handed over without some fee involved

theyd have already been subscribers due to NRL. For PTV its not a new audience and wont generate any serious subscription increase, hence why Fox would have been indifferent to having exclusive coverage.

Maybe. maybe not, it was strange that there was zero mention of value dont you think if it was worth anything decent?

Didn't you say everyone in Perth who watches rugby league already has Foxtel or Kayo?

Wouldn't that mean there's no need for a Perth-based team?

Random question.

NRL is one of the hardest sports in the world to have in game advertisements, these spots are the most expensive due to having a captured audience.

The majority of in game commercials are done after conversions ( maybe 4 times a half for a total of 2min advertising space ) but FTA did picture in picture advertising, let's say 5 minutes for each half, giving FTA about 10 x more in game commercials, would this add a significant amount to the FTA deal ?

Yes

so would quarters

they were thinking of 4 x 25 minute quarters which would’ve meant a huge increase in the tv deal

I think they are keeping that in their back pocket and trying. To get massive tv deals whilst not changing the game too much
