Simple where are the subscribers coming from and what are the viewing figures of Rugby League games vs fumbleball games.

it is not like League hasn’t outrated fumbleball for a number of seasons on Pay.

I don’t even know why this is still a thing - if the leader himself suggests that he gave Foxtel a good deal because they would otherwise catch a cold or that the fumbleball should thank him for their deal then why are we still debating. He is even admitting himself (indirectly) that he undersold it.

Well you need to include the fta ch10 component in. Let’s say the rumoured $185mill ch7 is paying is correct and ch10 happy to pay nrl that much. That leaves paramount $315mll. 1 million subscribers plus advertising just about does it with the spin offs mentioned earlier.

If Paramount pay $315m per annum then they'll need 1 million customers to pay $26.25 per month all year just to recoup costs.

There's no way News Ltd is making money from Kayo. As of August they had 1,293,000 paid subscribers. Their basic package is $27.50 per month. If all 1,293,000 are paying $27.50 per month then that's $35,557,500 they're raking in per month. We know many customers cancel their subscription after the football season. If they managed to keep 1,293,000 customers all year then that's $426,690,000 per annum. That doesn't cover what they're paying for RL, AwFuL, cricket, F1, Supercars, Super Netball, ESPN and BeIN Sport. They are getting three times that revenue from Foxtel, but they spend plenty on drama.

This attitude is why the AFL got a foothold in League states in the first place.

RL people just arrogantly insisted they weren't a threat and did nothing to combat the millions they have poured into schools and facilities.

It shits me to tears.

Yeah but you're just as guilty of it when it comes to expanding our game into south-east Asia. If we took NRL games, Origin, Tests and RL 9s to Singapore and Hong Kong then there's no reason that the game couldn't establish a foothold in those markets. At the very least it'll expose our game to the commercial sector of those markets, which could add much needed capital to our game.

Yep, the NRL has never done a proper tender process. Smith and PVL went at it alone with one of the existing partners.

Also the NRL is getting nothing from a telco (Telstra).
