Tasmania is going to heavily impact the giants and suns ability to attract players

in the rush to match nrl this hasn’t been very clearly thought out

but the leg up from the govt sure helps

Maybe you’re right. I was thinking that he was talking about Perth and another NZ team (either way) being the next teams.

Kinda feel like they are reaching close to their ceiling. After Tassie, where do they go? Darwin? Another Qld side might impact the Moons. A side in Canberra may reduce the relevancy of WSFM Giants.

Whereas with the NRL, there's plenty of places still to go to. Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane III, NZ II, PNG. PNG will require work, but imagine if it worked.

The AFL could potentially fund an expensive expansion into NZ. But suspect a Newcastle, North Queensland or teams in SA and WA would come well before that.

Expansion to Newcastle and Nth Qld will also be expensive. And they won't bring in huge tv dollars either.
