Well If Stan steal away the top rating product fox sports is truly stuffed
Probably not, sure it'll lose a substantial number of subscribers but it will keep the second biggest tv sport in the country and still hold a number of other sports people are interested in. But it wont lose them, because they know they can buy them for less than the revenue they make of NRL.

Fox sports would fail without rugby league

it’s afl ratings are terrible

our of the top 100 programs 70’to 80 are nrl

by getting the League Stan would become bigger
Than foxtel

And they know it that's why they did everything in their power to get rid of Smith and Grant.

Now we have their men in charge V'landys and Abdo who get an easy ride from them. Could you imagine the abuse they would give Smith if he was as invisible as Abdo.

There are 2 Kayo options. a) Kayo One at $25 and b) Kayo Basic at $30

It is Kayo Basic that is going from $30 to $35 from 14/2/24.

You can still choose the Kayo One option at $25

Worse though, if Stan got the rights would mean we'd be back to the game being "under the thumb" of Channel Nine again

We don't need (or probably want!) Stan to get it. We just need them to bid high for it so Fox have to pay up to keep it. Now streaming are bringing in advertising during films and shows (Prime latest to announce) it may well open up sport as a more lucrative option for streaming services by time NRL rights come up for grabs.

So with the Tasmanian stadium looking shaky how will the afl fulfil its tv commitments for the extra games under the new tv deal

they are bluffing tasmania
If the stadium isn’t built they still need the extra team for the tv deal

FTA is not dead yet, according to channel 9. Also highlighted in the article is the growing importance to foxtel of the nrl as they lose subscribers over the summer, just a shame V'landys decided to practically give away this broadcast cycle instead of waiting for a position of strength to emerge out of covid.
