That's about how I see it too. How friggin hard is it??? All four of these areas have huge grass roots support already, the ARLC just need to give the license to smart operators that know how to grow and success should follow.
This was the sort of argument that got Titans into the comp, and now they are struggling.
At the time it was 'australia's fastest growing region, already an area with huge support for rugby league, has the grass roots infrastructure in place and gives kids in the south-east Queensland region another Avenue to play in the nrl. With smart operators like Michael searle and his team it can only be a sucess'. Less then 10 years later and it is one of the nrls few struggling clubs.
Look at the other sports in australia, super rugbys expansion hasn't done much to grow the game, A-league's expansion (wanderers aside) has been disastrous, and afl's 2 expansion teams are gigantic money pits that are causing all kinds of trouble for that league.
I want rugby to expand, but only when the game is absolutely ready for it, at a time where it'll grow the game not hinder it
