If he wants piss them off keep the team and sign only park players on match payments and then they will take it off home at no cost.

Interesting point made here at the time Tinkler acquired the Jets in 2010:

"I have no desire to own a football club but provide a nursery for the development of the game for the thousands of young football players in the Hunter region.
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...-a-league-season/story-e6frey4r-1225927795804

and a comment from the same link

While I'm a football fan, and follow the Jets, I can't see why any businessman, like Tinkler, would agree to put money into an A-league club. None of the A-league clubs are currently profitable, and, while the standard of football is rising, the average crowds are falling. Tinkler won't hang around long if it's going to cost him large amounts of $$$. The FFA needs to urgently address many issues, including promotion of football in Australia. The A-league does NOT get the media coverage it deserves in either the newspapers or on television. Why is it that we can watch football from all over the world, except Australia, on free-to-air television? The A-league is not reaching any new supporters by only being shown on pay TV.

Charging him $5 Million for the Jets licence is incredible when the new owners of Adelaide paid nothing, the new Brisbane owners paid about half and the FFA kept it when the club owners were entitled, and the new Western Sydney owners got government assistance to get theirs. They have treated the guy like a bottomless pit of cash - nothing more, nothing less. He has been taken advantage of.

Would you expect to pay the same to "buy" the Brisbane Broncos as you would to "buy" the Cronulla Sharks?

Would you expect to pay the same for Manchester United as you would for Blackburn or QPR?

Would you expect to pay the same for the Newcastle Jets as you would for Gold Coast United?

Would you expect to pay the same for a Holden Commodore as you would for a Hyundai Excel?

For Christ sake, you honestly believe those analogies are relevant to the Sport of Soccer in this country? Clutching at straws there Stinky. All the franchises are farked.

Ask the mums and dads in this country if soccer fees for their kids are exorbitant. The FFA has no effing clue how to run soccer in Aus.

I for one could not give a shit if the whole A-League falls over. What is quickly becoming fact is that the FFA are going to go broke, if they aren't already, and the only people who can save it will be the parents of the kids playing soccer who will find that sooner rather than later, they will be forking out even more dollars for their kids to kick a little white ball around, or that people with the fortunes of Tinkler and Palmer are going to have to have a bigger say in decision making of soccer if they are to continue injecting millions into their franchises.

It will be a very interesting time when Frank Lowy is no longer around to prop the FFA up.

What's even more amusing is the public backlash against Tinkler when Lowy and co spent $45 million of public money (your dollars) on a World Cup Bid that attracted - wait for it - 1 vote!!!!!!! Anyone cop much public criticism over that one?

Are you f**king serious mate? Those comparisons are simply laughable

He was sold a rusty VL commodore for the same price you'd expect to pay for a Brand new VE.

If the Jets are so important to A-League then shift the new team's money to Newcastle.

But of course that's not going to happen because the FFA thought they could use Tinkler to fund Western Sydney. It's their own mistake. Tinkler obviously knew they would reject the return of the licence and go to court. Ultimately that's just going to attract negative press.

They should just find a new owner for the Jets and if they can't then make a choice between Sydney or Newcastle.

Tinkler should just get Hages to run the club, take a leaf out of the Clive Palmer text book and make them strip him of the licence.

Yep here are some measures Tinks can take to p*ss off the FFA...

1. Round up the all ages team from the nearby local soccer club and throw Jets jerseys at them. Match payments will do.

2. When the Jets run out play the "This Game Is Our Game" song over the loudspeakers.

3. Bring back that rotten old horse with the mounted Knight that used to trot around the edge of the stadium. Make sure Mr Ed has a large feed of oats with a few laxatives thrown in for good measure so that he leaves a nice surprise for the fans in the front rows of the stadium.

4. Play the promotional video of the FFA bid for the FIFA World Cup on repeat for the entire duration of the half time break.

Pfft Football. It's Soccer Tim, SOCCER

I didnt make the meme !!! I just found it amusing.

I think this is the best way out for him, if once the lawyers look at it, he is stuck until 2020. Field a terrible, uncompetitive team. Put anti FFA slogans on your shirts, whatever it takes to have them 'remove' the license.

I'm not getting into an debate about how farked the A-League is. I know it's crap.

BUT, the Jets were/are worth more as a franchise than the Gold Coast were. They are worth nowhere near what the Melbourne Victory are worth.
Everything is relative.

Tinkler has the shits at a lot of things, including his own people.
HIS people negotiated the deal to buy the club.
HIS people signed Culina to a long term deal knowing he was busted.

Sure, he has some legit issues with the FFA, BUT he needs to take some responsibility for the whole farked up situation. Something that he has not done , and I'd say will not ever do.

The whole buying of the Jets, and then the Knights still stinks of self promotion. He has HIS company paraded as major sponsor of both. He has HIS contractors as minor sponsors. All the money coming in is from the Tinkler portfolio.

Hunter Ports was a strategic choice for major sponsor. He wanted a coal loader, that funnily enough was for his Hunter Ports arm. As Big Tim said, the coal loader got knocked back, and Tinks winds up the Jets. He has no need to gain good will from the Newcastle public now does he?

I don't think he'll pull the same trick with the Knights, but it's got to have people a little concerned. How many other toys does he have to throw out of the cot?

What percentage of the Newcastle population could give a shit about the Jets?
