However I did think it was rather interesting that when HSG acquired the Jets they were wanking on about how important soccer is to the Hunter Valley etc etc etc. And now they want to walk away?

Did you read the statement? they arent walking away from Soccer in the Hunter, they are walking away from the A-League.

They still intend to fund local development, and even plan on having their youth squad in the local league.

Tinks has been done over by a ruthless Jew and his incompetent CEO.

I'd be f**kin filthy if I were him too.

Lowy is a merkin, in spite of what Les Murray and that farkwit Craig Foster say.

The local product is shit and people know it.

 Love how again we have a Knights vs Jets debate. I mean, seriously?

Unfortunately for some of you, the Jets aren't gone just yet. HSG signed an agreement when they acquired the license which had a legally binding aspect to it which prevented them walking away until June 2020.

Legally, HSG can't walk away.

However I did think it was rather interesting that when HSG acquired the Jets they were wanking on about how important soccer is to the Hunter Valley etc etc etc. And now they want to walk away?

Every contract has 2 parties JD and if HSG can prove the FFA have either not met their obligations or gained by deception then that contract won't mean jack

Nah hell just buy the Dragons with his spare change then fold them and bring all their best players up to the mighty red and blues. That way the Steelers can come back into the comp ;-)

Yeah bring back the Steelers. The talented part of the joint venture. What's wrong with chanting for Illawarra ?

Of course it does, but what annoys me is the fact Tinks cracks the shits when he doesn't get his own way. He did the same thing with the Knights.

Jobber is right on Tinks fuse though. If he was a hand grenade I would want to release the pin and grenade simultaneously for fear of losing my hand.

Also I take it that most of you also got the following e-mail?
Newcastle Knights said:
Dear Ian,

On behalf of the Newcastle Knights I wish to advise that the Hunter Sports Group have made the decision to hand back the Newcastle Jets A-League licence to Football Federation Australia, effective immediately.

This is an extremely difficult decision for the Hunter Sports Group that comes as a result of investing almost $12 million into the Jets over the last 18 months and experiencing an irreconcilable breakdown in the relationship with the FFA.

I want to stress that this decision has no impact on the Newcastle Knights with our future absolutely assured. The Newcastle Knights will continue to be owned and managed by the Hunter Sports Group.

I wish to remind Members that the Newcastle Knights also have a $20 million bank guarantee in place with the Hunter Sports Group that assures the Newcastle Knights future.

The Newcastle Knights will continue to operate as normal and the management and team are fully focused on preparing for next weekend's match. We thank you for your continued support.

Finally, to reiterate, the Hunter Sports Group remain committed to the Newcastle Knights now and in the future.

Today's Newcastle Jets press statement is attached.

Kind regards,

Paul Harragon
Chairman, Newcastle Knights

Statement is already here

I hope HSG continues to own both Jets and Knights. Sports are so important to the Newcastle community and the city needs both teams to be strong. I remember the buzz when both the Jets and Knights won premierships. It was great.

Tinker said he wanted to give back to the city and he can't quit now

I am very disappointed. Honestly it smacks of the BS that went on during the knights acquisition of pulling out, claim and counter claim.

My take on this is that tinkler is going nowhere, and this is just the usual tinkler style to get his way. He knows the FFA have committed to western sydney, he knows that the a-league without newcastle is not an option either. They are in a very bad position, and he knows it. He is getting nowhere trying to recoup his 5 million, he is getting ignored about cullina. So his next move is to call their bluff. Bare in mind, he has inside info on what they offered to clive palmer. So he calls their bluff, says stick the licence. Now the FFA can do a few things here:

- They can cancel western sydney, and fund the jets, wont happen.
- They can run both clubs.... possibility, but unlikely.
- They can come to an arrangement with tinkler whereby they put in X amount and tinkler puts in Y amount. highly likely.
- Take tinkler on, getting an injunction forcing him to fund the club. unlikely, for various reasons.
- They shut the club down unlikely.
- They sell the club, possibly.

You see i think Nathan believes that the FFA has to look after Newcastle, and dont believe the rhtoric about our football tradition and nursery. The FFA needs the Hunter region for a compelling TV rights deal.

Tinkler reckons that the FFA would rather pay for half than all...therefore this move will bring the FFA to the bargaining table from a position of weakness. One thing is for sure i dont think tinkler can just dump and run, but he can be a real areshole to them if he wants to and this is phase I....

I reckon by the week end, they will be sitting around a table working on a solution.

Tinkler negotiation 101. Not sure I appreciate it when it involves my club. Not sure i want to get anymore emails from paul harragon at work explaing disastrous news.

I have serious issues with these paper billionaires, and i wonder sometimes just how rich these blokes are when push comes to shuv. They have f**k all cash flow, virtually everything they own is leveraged. When it comes to running a 30 million turnover org as hunter sports would now be, cash flow in particular when the season ends becomes a massive problem. It worries me, it always has but what choice did we have other than to take this risk.

One thing is know about novocastrians is we are very trusting, and accommodating, but if you f**k us you will cop it like you never have before. I would be careful big fella.
