NFT - Tinkler Pulls Plug on jets

Tinkler is potentially the boldest businessman this country has seen. I think he is as composed as they get. His only problem is he is a young man. They don't like that.

He has got where he is because he takes big risks. Most of them are educated risks though. The Jets helped serve a purpose - it bought him public faith to get what he really wanted in the Knights. But he doesn't like being played the fool and he was taken advantage of. I have no problems in what he has done - the A-League is a completely flawed business model - but I hope the Jets stay going in some form...

Read the article in todays Sun Herald by Craig Forster, he indicates very clearly that the FFA screwed TInkler good and proper.

He also indicates that Lowy did the same thing back in the NSL days, pulled a team out of the comp due to disagreements with the governing body.

I rarely pay much attention to what "Fozzinho" has to say... but that is a bloody good article.

Should be compulsory reading for all the FFA apologists out there who are glorying in painting Tinks as the devil incarnate.

I thought it was obvious for all to see. He was ripped off and pulled the pin.

Can anybody clarify for me- did Tinkler sign on for 10 years initially, or did he only buy the license for the first season and then extend it some time after once all the dust had settled?

i'd love to know what Pooles ultimate agenda is in everything. seemed to have the Newcastle public as his primary interest when we spoke last year when the takeover was taking place. he was dead set about the secret trust and sold it quite well.

the papers a f**king hilarious feigning shock that Tinkler is back at the table. what a complete piss take. the entire ordeal is a giant billionaire pissing contest. lolling verily heartily @ all the wowsers thinking this would have any implication for the Knights. f**king tit heads.

Tinky's a bit richer today - part of the deal is that the combined Whitehaven-Aston company buys Tinky's private Boardwalk Resources company. The guy's got himself yet another big payday...

Rothfield is a joke. He has not a clue. I LOL big time when they emphasised that tinks was a 'on paper' billionaire only based on assets and their cash flow status. They think he runs Patinack for profit. That is insane. Billionaires love to spend on their hobbies. Tinks is a racing tragic FFS and was well before he hit pay dirt. They lose. AGAIN.

That company is now valued at 5.1 billion. Tinky's stake is 20%. By all accounts he is in debt to the tune of half a billion. He is apparently set to "let it ride' again on a new venture. You can't win 'em all though and surely his luck will turn eventually. He has certainly had a very, very good run.

Not everything Tinkler touches has turned to gold- the coal loader and Newcastle CBD redevelopment spring to mind. At least this new deal should help with providing a cash flow- I think this is the only mine he has his fingers in that is actually producing coal, i.e an income.

Big Tinks gets a refund on the licence cost hey? The soccer fraternity will be so happy. There you go fellas and where are all the Tinks bashers that said he was in it for the wrong reasons. Surely they go away now don't they? I doubt it. I can only imagine the hatred he must have for those in the media, esp blokes like Rothfield, who have written dribble about him and been proven wrong time after time.

Well if it wasn't for him they'd have shit. How bout a big f**k you to the FFA for failing to fill HSG in on the millions they were ripping from out of Tinks pocket for the licence? He's poured 18 million in and people have the hide to say he'd better not jump again? It is impossible for some people to think about this situation rationally as they don't have the intelligence I guess.

 So you're blindly believing everything HSG says?

That's
irrational...
