Early contender for buy of the season, just an out and out footy player and one of the few who looks to have not fallen away in form after leaving Melbourne.

A lot of people were unsure if he could transition to the halves and be successful there but it looks pretty seamless at the moment. Sharks have a great pack and backs for him to work with and it wouldn't surprise me to see them in the top 4 this year.

What are you paying for him? Value for money is a consideration when assessing buy of the year.

Maybe I had Sharks coloured glasses on but I never got how people didnt think he'd be a good pick up.

His kicking game has surprised me. Didn't realize it would that good, and likely only to get better.

It's still early days. I'm loving his play, but we need to temper expectations.

Teams will have more and more video on him, be able to defend him better, etc. What will be telling is how he will be able to respond to that.

I thought he'd end up being a good player, but he was definitely exceeded what I was expecting at this stage.

Fitzgibbon has the attack flowing on both sides of the field for the Sharks but Hynes as an individual has been outstanding in that area. Has got in a bit of trouble in defence but still has plenty of time to improve as the season goes on.

Will be putting plenty of pressure on Luai for the NSW 6 jersey.

Quite surprised at how much shape the Sharks have in attack so far - given that Fitzgibbon has come from the Roosters and they largely play fast through the middle.

I thought the Sharks would struggle for field position since they would have to rely on Moylan for a lot of kicking.

Hynes is killing it as game manager in addition to playmaking.

I thought he was overhyped - plenty of players come out of the Melbourne system and look very ordinary.

But so far he’s living up to the hype. Obviously he needs to maintain similar form across more than 3 games, but all signs are looking pretty positive.

Sometimes you just see players that are genuine footy players. They have the skills, they know how to do things at the right times, they don't necessarily come up with the ridiculously flashy plays but they are just rock solid. And do it in the big games and the big moments.

Hynes is that. He's a jet

I reckon they will be looking at him as the No.14.
Injury free the Riff boys will be the halves for sure.

I was suspect how he’d go at 6 and without the Storm stars around him but he’s started well.
I must admit I also thought he would struggle full-time in the halves, but I got that wrong. Sure it is only 3 weeks in, and he might struggle with the rigours of ‘week-in-week-out’ footy towards the end of the season, but that is just the realities of a young bloke coming through; he sold me that he looks a good-one…
