I am certainly in the Nighty Fan Club. And that is based on what I see on the field. I imagine such a champion person and such an experienced footballer brings much to the team behind the scenes in the way many of us assume Graham does. Yes, his defence against speedsters will be tested by opponents like the Storm but this will be as much a test of the Aitken/Nighty combo as his speed.

Mary and the players keep making the point of every one doing his job. Nene and Nighty clearly have different strengths but each is contributing his bit towards the team's success. I will continue to be happy seeing him under the high ball and using every twist and turn and every bit of strength to eat up as many metres as he can.

sorry mate my memory goes back to seeing a young flier coming through the juniors, killing it in the lower grades along with the Morris twins, giving over 10 years gold plated service in first grade including a premiership, staying loyal whilst others (aforementioned Morris twins) left for the dough and who still takes a mighty bomb under pressure and gives it all in every game he plays. He'll do me for now.

Well if you are only going to remember selectively it is no use having a constructive discussion.

Josh Addo-Carr V Nighty. Not an issue as they wont be marking up, mostly anyway.

Vunivalu v Nighty ....... ??? No contest.

Vunivalu v Mann ..... ???
Vunivalu v Lomax ......????
Vunivalu v Field ......?????

Why wouldn't they be lining up against each other? Addo-Carr plays on the left, Nightingale plays on the right.

Elite wingers will give us trouble. We haven’t really faced any yet.

Ado Carr, Vunivaliu and Radrara ran rings around us last year.

If there is any game where Nighty and even Lafai will be exposed, it will be this one.

I would be more critical on Lafai's form than Nighty. Lafai dropped a fair bit of ball yesterday at crucial stages. If Mann or Lomax come into the squad on someone's poor form, it would be to replace Lafai not god I mean Nighty.

My thoughts exactly. Lafai should be dropped on that last performance alone. I' mentioned it many times already, I think Lomax should replace him rather than nighty.

Well Fergo, Manu and Mitchell aren’t exactly slouches and we seemed to contain them ok.
I agree mate
Nighty and our centres will do their job. By herding him to the sideline what I meant was...over the touch line!

Lomax. NOW.
Dragon fans are looking hard to find reasons to keep him in first grade. Normal play is touted as something special, mistakes are look upon as a a percentage of his whole career. We need to pick our best side and we need to blood our youngsters. Select Lomax and in the same way that youngsters from other clubs have blossomed, Lomax will nicely surprise.

If it is Lafai to go then Mann is the logical replacement. But I am of the opinion that it is Aitken and Nightingale to go. Aitken would make the ideal bench utility as an extra backrow forward or backup centre/winger. If there is an injury in the halves or fullback, Mann moves from centre to that position and Aitken goes to centre.

Not exactly the time to be trying out Lomax Possm. He could be a wanderlust. Never mind. If Nighty is failing when we could be losing might be the time to try him out. Until then I will stick with the experienced player.

When he’s on... he’s on
When he’s off.. he’s usually still on.
But tonight....Rookie errors creeping in.
I don’t like seeing this happening to a champion.
Thoughts?

Errors, as in plural?

I recall Nightingale dropped one kick when he over complicated things by attempting to get a foot in-goal, thereby giving Saints a seven tackle 20 metre restart...but what other mistakes were committed?

"Rocks and diamonds" certainly applies to the other winger though.

I'm more worried about Dufty leaving that bomb to bounce and lafai having to clean it up. Dangerous. It was Dufty 100% and he could have easily got to that bomb.

Dufty has shown a weakness under the high ball all season; I'm surprised it hasn't been exploited more often.

I'm not going to diss Nene but Nightingale rarely makes mistakes.
