Nines Thread

No they didn't Last time Cleary senior took a team to the nines with panthers. He won the pool handsomely. Then bombed out badly cause strike players were burnt out.

Not much went Panthers way. No real field position, some poor passes and the like. It was like some have said a nothing game. It was treated like that. The wording of the Panthers website late mail said similar. Apparently to play in the finals you must have played a pool game.

I understand those reasons. My point is it was the club who publicly said they were coming in 2020 with the attitude to win everything which means not taking that game seriously is a contradiction.

Losing because you have reserves is different to not trying.

That is why I see Luai or Burton being fullback after this year
It might be unfair. But in 20 mins at 1 against Broncos i never want see see Luai at 1 again.

Centre or half for me.

Burton im not sure on. I like him though. Prefer both in team if we could.

That is how I see it too. Need both in the side somewhere. I think Laurie is too small to be fullback so leaves one of those 2 outside of someone coming available

"Whether it's a small warm-up drill, training, playing in the trials or Nines… we want to be winners in everything," - Luai 2020

Great we want to win, that has nothing to do with what I’m saying about comments on individual players & their role for the remainder of the season.

Mansour won't keep Crichton out of first grade. Love the guy but he's just not with it anymore.

Depends if we need him in centre for Whare. For me that is what I am looking for this pre season improvement in all players.

It is a long season so because it isn’t there yet means nothing but the convo still can be had

Well won’t be Edwards

He restored my faith after his poor start last year. Thought he had a very good back end of 2020. Mark of a quality player to bounce back the way he did.

In a spine with Maloney I felt Edwards worked well. I feel a good comparison is CNK from the Raiders and I wouldn't complain if he was our fullback.

But I've got my reservations about Cleary and I think he is going to need loads of help. I'm basically hoping Korisau completely changes our attack enough to mask our issues. I've got hopes for Luai as well but I think he will be a victim of our tough early draw and get dropped for Burton. Next place you look is at fullback but barring your solution of Luai/Burton in the one we would need to buy a player.

Well you weren't specific so it's hard to know which comments you were referencing.

Definitely and after missing the 8 we are going to a bit harsher in our judgement.

He got to solid but can you win comps with solid? Word is attack was worked on all pre-season twice in the 9’s tries got bombed from him.

If that is still the case in Round 10 then there is issues

We smashed a very under strength roosters side, now losing to a very stacked and formadable knights,
I understand the need to rest kikau and api, so we really need to see more of the rest of the group, if we want to win the tournament

All these teams are now flogging themselves to make the QFs. We didn't need to. We should start these finals with a fresh, first string squad. They'll fire up now. Put away the pitchforks ffs.
