At the time of it's release, the Nintendo Wii was one of the most innovative & stylish consoles to hit the market. Wii Sports is one of the most defining games of the current generation & launching the console with a GameCube port worked wonders because it was Zelda and fans were anticipating a more conventional graphic style.
While the console meandered and the pick of quality exclusive titles dwindled from previous generations, Nintendo deserve credit for thinking outside of the box and re-inventing themselves in a way that brought them back into the mainstream.
From a hardcore gamers perspective I can see why some look down on the platform but to say Nintendo died is silly.
However, I am worried about this current generation. It just seems like they've slapped on a few extra features on previous platforms and called it a day. 3DS started out terribly but is starting to gain momentum while the WiiU almost certainly looks to be following that trend.
