Steve Waugh..take a bow..your declaration in the first innings was a DISGRACE...Usually you have waited until an hour before stumps before you declare but on this occasion you timed the declaration to thwart Martin Love's likely Century on Debut..Why do I suspect your motives Mr Waugh ??...Quite simply,it's all down to your attempts to save your arse..You are likely to be stood down after the Sydney Test and your pissweak declaration was a sad attempt to stop Love from being your replacement..Your 77 was a good knock..but gee,wouldn't it look miniscule if some new boy stole your thunder with a debut century..My respect for you has been diminished because of your EGO !!

I would liked to see Australia bat on for a little longer but when Gilchrist got out, there were only bowlers left in the tail.
No point risking getting one on the thumb when you've got 551 on the board.

Good to see a quick reaction...Love would have cruised to a ton..one minor blemish early on but never troubled after that....IF Gilchrist wasn't under instructions to chance his arm,we could have put the game beyond England's reach...as it is we still need a hundred..it would have been much easier to get the runs in the 1st Innings..And..as an aside ..Love reminds me of Mark Waugh..so much time to see the ball..maybe this pisses off Steve(the less talented twin)as well !!!

Love was impressive today in the slips. Some of those catches were spot on.
The thoughts going through my mind was that Australia had found a replacement Mark Waugh, not Steve.
Whether Love plays in Sydney or not is beside the point... he'll become a regular in the Aussie side sooner rather than later.

wtf has Steve Waugh done wrong? In all seriousness he has it all.
He is scoring runs at the crease and saving runs in the field. He leads by example and then some.
He's even bowling again so he is fitter now then he was last year when he had shoulder problems.
On top of all that, he is one of the most successful and aggressively competitive Test captains in history.
He should be dropped? Be buggered.

Apart from the stuff I just said, I forgot to mention that Steve Waugh also has an unblemished record, he is a good media captain and handles the publicity well.
A good Bankstown boy... he even met Mother Teresa...
I understand he didn't vote for John Howard... so how good is that?
