So we had NBN in my street via the foxtel cables, before they pulled the plug and flicked us back to HFC broadband. NBN is apparently upgrading something and we will get it back at the end of the year.

The feedback I get from friends of mine or my kids however is that people have gone backwards when Abbott's NBN gets switched on.

The NBN argues that poor download speeds is the ISP not buying enough bandwidth and each house ending up with a tiny slice of pie.

I think the message here is not to enter into a 24 month contract, byo your own modem and change ISPs if they f**k you over with poor NBN performance.
