what is the point n making election mandatory ?
you vote for some bloke and the other pollies stab him in the back and put some one else in his place who we didn't vote for
then they do it again and ask us to have another election
what is the point ?
I had that discussion today at work.
I know we are meant to vote for a political party and their policies in general, but a lot of people vote for the popularity of the party's leader. It's just the way it is. The discussion then led to why should voting be compulsory, when a favored leader is voted in, then dumped by their own party for another person who may not have been desired by the electorate. It's a disgrace that this is allowed to happen in our constitution.
I'm both fascinated by what is happening atm. It's political porn. It takes me back to the Whitlam sacking.
But on the other hand, I am also disgusted at what has transpired over the past few days. It has been shameful that this current government has foregone the governing of the country and focused on self indulgent, egotistical and selfish behavior at the behest of the Australian people. The quality of people running this country has never been at a lower ebb. Certain sections of the media have to take much of the blame. We all know who they are.
This has been an embarrassing episode for this country internationally. The foreign media have been quite scathing.
In saying all that, I just don't understand why the LNP think that this change is for the better. Dutton, (or Bishop or Morrison) have appalling approval ratings as preferred Prime Minister, and all will get smashed at a federal election. A lot of these Turnbull back stabbers will lose their electorates. Are they all that f**king stupid?
Bill Shorten would be smoking cigars tonight.
So would Tony Abbott, because he will finally get his revenge. It's a shocking indictment on Australian politics when this is how people who are elected to govern for the people behave when they are indulged with that privilege. They should be ashamed of themselves.
