Well kinda, He donates through his own foundation, the donations to which are tax deductible, however the laws around these foundations only require a small percentage of funds under management to be passed on to charitable causes.

They can be ( and have been ) used as means by which to build assets and re-distribute income, and there are little to no rules around public disclosure, so we literally will never know how much of that money actually makes it to causes in need.

Now, I aint saying here that Turnbull is doing anything wrong, but I am saying it's no where near as straight forward as the media reporting makes out.
