Sure. Agree entirely on that. Its a choice a lot of them have made.

The original point though was about 'feeding off the public purse', implying that it was a shit tonne of money. Compared to the private sector, they aren't heavily paid.

Still, there's a perception out there that politicians get decent benefits after their political life rides off into the sunset.

Yeah. I had one a couple of years ago and it wasn't as good as I remembered. And then I was so stuffed I had to lie on the couch for a few hours. Although I was planning to do that anyway.
