I don’t think he’s been great either. I’m sure we can do better.
I think we can hammer him over making a call that he could also be the football manager and not being able to acquire a major sponsor in his first year.really? the jersey is the best thing to hammer him over?
i agree he hasn't been the great success I thought .... seem to hardly ever hear from him about anything ... but tbh I have no idea what he is/isn't doing
He should be sacked because you don’t like the jersey ? Savage. He admitted that it was his call and prior to making it there was a focus group that he consulted. For god sake we have over 20,000 members. Make a poll and see what the fans want. I bet everything I have that the one he chose would not be picked as our jersey. The guy is an idiot and a failure and should quit before being sacked.
good - cos the jersey thing is clutching at strawsI think we can hammer him over making a call that he could also be the football manager and not being able to acquire a major sponsor in his first year.
There actually is it’s just we can’t get them.good - cos the jersey thing is clutching at straws
I had no problem with them holding out for a bigger paying sponsor ... though was disappointed when it ended up being another questionable profile building company .... but I don't think we are in a golden age of sports sponsorship anyway - there aren't many really high profile ones around
really? ... who are the really high profile sponsors of NRL teams ... to me they mostly seem like 2nd tier in their industiresThere actually is it’s just we can’t get them.
You are insisting that he should have landed a major sponsor the year after we got done for cheating ? You’re taking the piss, right ?I think we can hammer him over making a call that he could also be the football manager and not being able to acquire a major sponsor in his first year.
I would have thought that having a static jersey design was a poor merchandising strategy. The 86 retro should be our permanent jersey and the away should be something completely different, maybe even with a V like our first 7’s kit.
We have such nice colours yet struggle to come up with anything resembling a good look.
You are starting to sound like Pou.Look at other clubs. Roosters, St George, The Dogs, Cronulla, Souths. They all have static designs for the home jersey.I would have thought that having a static jersey design was a poor merchandising strategy.
He should have done a charity on there like the Dogs did with Camp Quality. You are insisting that he should have landed a major sponsor the year after we got done for cheating ? You’re taking the piss, right ?
Ok but you said sponsor. Like get paid. You just shifted the goal posts. He should have done a charity on there like the Dogs did with Camp Quality.
Whilst I am looking at St George etc, how about you go and look at the Broncos. They are the merkins who get 35,000 every match and change their jumpers like their underwear. You are starting to sound like Pou.Look at other clubs. Roosters, St George, The Dogs, Cronulla, Souths. They all have static designs for the home jersey.
No it’s not. It’s a strategic move to get a better sponsor. Now I sound like Pou.Ok but you said sponsor. Like get paid. You just shifted the goal posts.
Can’t compare us to a one city team like them. It’s not about the jersey it’s where they are. You are now clutching at strawsWhilst I am looking at St George etc, how about you go and look at the Broncos. They are the merkins who get 35,000 every match and change their jumpers like their underwear.
We were talking about regular design changes and merch strategy. I’m not clutching at straws at all. Can’t compare us to a one city team like them. It’s not about the jersey it’s where they are. You are now clutching at straws
Our market cannot compare to those. Besides I’m all for changing the away strip every year.We were talking about regular design changes and merch strategy. I’m not clutching at straws at all.
It’s a huge part of how clubs across the world improve revenue streams.

"Football shirts have transitioned from a sportswear product whose primary purpose was for players to play in, through a period in which they became profitable replica sportswear for children, to becoming leisurewear for young adults, and then for adults of all ages," Stride says. "So designs now are influenced by the tastes of that mature adult market, with shirts often having a nostalgic angle."
Stride argues this has led to flashy, intricate designs becoming less common due to the preferences of the adult market, but also because these plain designs are also less likely to clash with the many logos and sponsorship brands the shirts now carry.
“The innovation in football shirts has shifted from design to marketing tactics,” says Stride. “Though most clubs now change their home shirt design every season, changes often consist of just minor details, small flashes, collar styles or trim.”
It is hardly surprising that football shirt design has become so driven by marketing and sponsorship. Football clubs have three key revenue streams: match-day earnings, media, and commercial sales (where shirt revenue is often the biggest component.) The 20 clubs in the English Premier League smashed their record for combined shirt sponsorship deals for the 2017-18 season by generating £281.8 million, according to Sporting Intelligence data, an increase of more than £55 million on the previous year.
