Nah shop around mate, experts on here reckon tradies only charge 75 bucks an hour

I am an expert. As I have noted electricians will start from around $75 - $100 an hour. Pending on the size of company. Sole trader like myself generaly charge around the price you stated. Of course parts are extra and most will mark then up about 10-25%

Do you do automotive electrical stuff, too? I'm trying to source a box of spark plug gaps at a decent price.

When I was 14 I remember using shampoo as a well uno....
Then I was interrupted and forgot to wipe it off. I ended up with a scaly scrotum for a week. May of been conditioner come to think about it.
You already told us your conditioned scrot story

Merkins. My plumber came back with the below re: ongoing tree roots problem with council tree(s). Thoughts ?

View attachment 37452

Option 1. I wouldn't imagine that the line needs to be cleared every four months. It won't IMO, get blocked that regularly. Once, and at the very most, twice a year would be more than sufficient. $530 per visit would be about right considering it includes hire of camera and eel.

Option 2. I would be getting other quotes if you prefer a long term fix, or, I would be asking for a breakdown of the quote you received). As Twiz said, it wouldn't be more than a days work. There's 4 metres of pipe to replace according to the quote. A machine (excavator) for excavation and backfilling will cost about $1000 for the day. ($120/hr). He has to be there for the day to do both the initial dig and backfilling once the repair is complete. A couple of plumbing tradesman to do the repairs for a day. Let's say $100/per hour each (although that is still overs). 8 hr day adds up to $1600. There wouldn't be more than $1000 in materials for this repair. More likely, less.

So we have -
Machine hire - $1000
Plumbing labour - $1600 (generous)
Materials - $1000 max. (also generous)

Total so far - $3600

I think you said it is in the nature strip, so there might be some traffic control required. There could also be some council or Sydney Water fees to pay. Add a margin for the contractor on top of all this and you are getting up towards 5k's. Anyway, as I said. I'd get another quote.

But, as you can see, the costs escalate pretty quickly, even without over priced companies.

Also, to the clown who suggested I said that plumbers only charge $75/hr, pull your head in you twat.

Finally, Gronk, as you also run your own business, you'd be fully aware of the exponential costs for doing so. Workers Comp, superannuation, Public Liability etc... all have to be passed on to a client. and is included in hourly rates and profit margins, as I am sure you do when you charge your customers.
As you can see, costs can build pretty quickly, and without your claim of outrageous tradies hourly rates.

Today I've read posts by you saying you "sucked the bones" and used a shampoo bottle for self gratification... I'm not going to forget those in a hurry... Very disturbing Mr Hindy111....

I think old scaly scrot used it as lube?

Gary uses them for self-gratification.

We've had tradies do far less over the years and cost more. We always go out to at least 3 as well.

I think the $6K-ish quote is reasonable for what you are asking. If someone quoted substantially less I'd be concerned about whether they'd do a quality job. That said, I think the chances of anyone quoting much less is fairly remote.

For the sake of around $1K (using Suity's figures), you should go with someone you trust.
