I see Djokovic as a Mundine/professional wrestler type.
Being a peanut is probably his naturally tendency, but leans into it as marketing. It made him far more of an recognisable individual while the peak Federer/Nadal/Djokovic on-court battle was occurring. If he went the same boring robot route as the other 2, he would’ve just been completely lumped with them and probably cost himself dollars. Being controversial may also cost him dollars but not while he’s at the top of the sport

It doesn't appear so ...

DJOKOVIC: I had COVID twice, I had COVID in June 2020 and I had COVID recently in – I was tested positive – PCR –16th of December 2021.

INTERVIEWER: Thank you. Sorry what was the date? 16th of December?
DJOKOVIC: 16th of December 2021, I have the documents as well to confirm that if
you want I can provide – just as a –
and later in hte interview (I think he accidentally says november instead of december here)
DJOKOVIC: Well as I said before, I just, what I can say is that, I’m surprised that there is insufficient information on the very reason why I was granted the medical exemption by Victorian state independent medical panel which confirmed that I have
fulfilled the criteria to enter Australia based on, based on the criteria that they have imposed which is not on the paper which you read to me and that is if you had encountered or had a positive Covid PCR test in the previous six months, and you can provide the negative PCR test and the sufficient amount of antibodies, then you are granted access and that’s exactly what happened in the whole process. So we
provided -- I provided medical documentation, on 16 November, I was positive on PCR, PCR test positive COVID-19, 22nd I was negative. I sent the blood analysis for my antibodies and had a sufficient amount and I was granted the access to Australia and I received the documentation that supported my medical exemption and the travel declaration coming from the federal government.

he never said he got the result on the 16th - its the date of the test on the bit of paper

All good. In the scheme of things, what he did on the 17th being + or - is irrelevant to the current issue. If true (that he provided medical evidence of the presence of antibodies with his - test) , then why was he detained ? I guess it comes down to the quality of the evidence. A letter from a Serbian Dr prolly doesn't cut it. A pathology lab printout prolly should.

Has Scotty made an appearance as yet ? I saw on the telly that Albo had a rant, but was careful not to offer a position other than it's a shemozzle.

And Novak conducted himself like a gentlemen in the interview unlike the border force interviewer who gave him a massive extra 20min to come up with something at 4am because his shift was ending.

Why was he detained? ... cos it was a witch hunt .... never once did they question the doco he had in the interview, they just kept saying yep. They never said you are being kicked out cos this doco is crap.

They tried their hardest to coerce him into agreeing to just leave. Kept pressuring him to just agree ... he didnt. He just wanted more time to try and clear it up.

Let's not compare Novak to this. It is not in anyway similar. He is here for a tennis tournament and that is all. Unsure why people are brining refugees into this.
I listened to people who wanted to winge about the NRL being allowed to take players into QLD while others part of the general public couldnt.
They provide entertainment and a shit load of money to the economy. That is why. Unfortunately arts and music just do not provide the same.
Novak brings fans. People pay to go and see him. That means public transport, food, drinks etc. The flow on effect from these events is huge. And it creates jobs. So YES I am happy he can play. He will sell out every game and generate a shiptload of interest.
These immigrants maybe hard done by. And I am sure they dream of being part of our country but comparing is dumb.

Yes he will. Nadal and Djoković are both on 20 grand slams. They can meeetnin the final and the winner will have the most grand slams in the history of tennis and be proclaimed the GOAT.

Isn’t that in the public interest which is one of the elements that the discretionary section 133 relies upon?

Nah Justice Kelly allowed Novak to go free because fairness. There has been no fairness attributed to the Biloela family.
