Well if the point is to gain a swipe right in the context of these dating apps, he’s not being real smart.6.0ft and an Engineer. I would argue that he would be higher value than 90% of single mums?

Sure but I wouldn't write it in your profile the way he did.
Perhaps prefer someone without kids rather then have a dig at them.
Yeah & don't swipe right with women that have children if that's your preference.Sure but I wouldn't write it in your profile the way he did.

Not much has changed in Bali in the last 50 years, never go there without insurance
Haha yeah do you blame me.
I love going to Europe in there summer.
Be nice if the flight was 5/6 hours shorter.
Travelling to the third world of Asia outside of Japan & Singapore doesn't appeal to me atm. I did Thailand when i was a kid with the family. We were in Bangkok during the 2008 GF and couldn't find a sports bar to watch the game. It was a dud game anyway.
While in Europe there is so many places to go and see the architecture and history with all the old towns in most towns is incredible. And then comparing them to the newish part of those towns.
Then you have the fact you can still have a good time and get on the drink everywhere without the RSA marshals on your back like it is here in Australia.
Well not all of Bali is full of bogans. I have an uncle who lives in Ubud, so I have been more than a few times, but only made the mistake of staying in Seminyak the once. Much cooler up in Ubud. Views of rice paddies from the pool (from where we usually stay), fire flies buzzing around at night. Taxi into town and grab something to eat down Monkey Forest Road. The only downside is the 90 min drive from the shemozzle of an airport. We'll prolly call in to see him again later this year, cos he's getting on. So not the worst place IMHO.

I have a relative in Thailand too. So if we visit Bali we usually stop off in Thailand. He works for a multinational in Bangkok. Prick of a place. So we have been to Phuket (Surin Beach), Phi Phi, Koh Samui to escape Bangkok. Right now when I go back, I just want somewhere to escape bogans, backpackers and Russians for a change. As they say, if you can't afford travel insurance, you can't afford to travel.
I did Europe a lot back in the 2000's. I think I've seen what I want to see and do there now, and South East Asia is definitely where it is at for me for the next few years. I think it depends what you want to see and do when you're on a holiday. I'll give you the tip, no one has heard of RSA in South East Asia either.
I'm not much of a fan of Bangkok myself, nor am I of most major cities. Thailand as a child would be a completely different experience than it would be as an adult though. I know mates have taken their kids there, it's certainly a different experience than for me.
Things have changed a lot in 15 years in Thailand (I too went to Bangkok in 2008). I suspect in some areas of Phuket on Sunday in a 1 square kilometre radius you would have more sports bars showing the NRL Grand Final than you would in the entire Parramatta City CBD and surrounds.
I've never been to Bali, will get there one day, but I've spent plenty of time in Phuket in Thailand in recent years. I'm actually there every few months. I was there last with some family and friends and I'll be back there for Christmas and New Year, before venturing onto other parts of Thailand. People seem to compare Bali and Phuket, I'd say there are a lot of similarities but also plenty of differences.
Surin Beach doesn't seem to have many of the three things you mentioned. That and nearby Laguna and Bang Tao seem fairly classier sort of places. The Russians tend to stick to Karon/Kata further south of Phuket these days (a few in Kamala and Patong though).I have a relative in Thailand too. So if we visit Bali we usually stop off in Thailand. Absolutely. It’s why the elites don’t always get the government they want. As soon as they try to leave the working class behind they find their party in opposition. If you get out of Teal country, you work out that the majority of Australians are probably bogans to a certain degree
When we were at Surin Beach (twice) it was all Russian. All the same, post Tsunami, I loved the hawker stalls along the beach where you could grab a bite. Some brainiac decided to pull them all down. Prolly due to the pressure from the Hiton etc located just behind the beach. Maybe it's different now and worth going back.Surin Beach doesn't seem to have many of the three things you mentioned. The Russians have been in Phuket for a while, I heard they're now heading to Bali too? The Chinese are slowly coming back to Phuket.
If you stay away from Phi Phi, and Koh Samui at the wrong time of the month (around Full Moon time), you'll avoid most of the backpackers. I think those parts of Thailand are becoming a bit too mainstream and expensive for the backpackers these days, I hear they're getting to places a bit off the beaten track like Pai, Koh Chang, and Koh Trang. I think they're tending to hit up other parts of South East Asia now too (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc.)

The reality is that there is something for everyone somewhere in some part of Thailand (except the cold and snow), for a lot less than it is here.
Yeah very true it would be different from being a 14 year old to an Adult we also did Koh Samui that was nice.As they say, if you can't afford travel insurance, you can't afford to travel.

A lot of Americans think we have Kangaroos just hopping around in cities and everything.
I don't think it is a dig.
He is providing his preferences, which is the point of dating apps? is it not?

We do in Canberra. There has been plenty of times I have driven up my street and a kangaroo has been hopping the other way. And I live in general suburbia.A lot of Americans think we have Kangaroos just hopping around in cities and everything.
The one time I have been to Surin (2022) there were street hawkers just off the beach. Seems fairly ad-hoc and day-to-day though. Kamala has some good restaurants right on the beach. When we were at Surin Beach (twice) it was all Russian. Tourists dismayed by demolitions at Thai beach favoured by Rihanna
A long-standing dispute between Phuket's beachside businesses and government officials finally came to a head yesterday when demolition teams accompanied by Royal Navy officers and scores of police began tearing down stalls and shops from the shores of Surin beach.www.telegraph.co.uk
