How come the NSW South Coast hardly ever floods ?

Coz it's further from the tropics. And coz there aren't many towns build on flood plains (like Lismore).

I've travelled extensively along the east coast of OZ and have to agree that NSW has the best coastline. From Merimbula and Tathra in the south to the Tweed. The water colour and beaches are all spectacular in their own right. I took this pic in Pambula last month and I couldn't believe how pristine the water was.

Hardly a soul around. There had to be good eating fish right there.

As far as views are concerned it's hard to beat a night at Smokey Cape lighthouse B&B. Best overnight place I have stayed at on the coast.

I've been going through Kiama for years and didn't even know Saddleback Mountain existed just behind the town. The drive up the hill is worth it.

Best fish 'n chips down there too, except Kiama on the wharf. The dogs in the street wouldn't eat that green meat.

yep

being sub tropical we got a lot more rain I would have thought, and the fact that Lismore/Grafton floods every time we have a shower, its a low lying area.

we often get the dregs of cyclones that turn into a low pressure system after they hit land and they just unload on SE Qld and Northern NSW

Would be interesting to know how much of LIsmore and other towns affected by flood waters are built below 1:100 year flood levels.



And why build flood levees, if floods if this magnitude prove them inadequate ?

I didn't know asphalt could float but apparently it does, This is my cricket club, club house in the back ground.
