LOL not good enough.

How about we hold a referendum and binding plebiscite ASAP on:-

1. Republic (seeing that they said this AM that Liz plans to abdicate)
2. Dual Citizens are OK to be our parliamentary representatives
3. Indigenous recognition in the Constitution, and
3. Same sex marriage (plebiscite).

Just on that. Does anyone actually think Lizzie will abdicate?

Yes he did didn't he? He was very sick at the end but he was still king, wasn't he?

You probably are right. Zzzz for the Royal Family. I think my Mrs has watched every Dianna show ever made over the last few weeks.

I never thought she would but if she gets to a state of incapacity to carry out her duties, like Phil the Dill, maybe she will.

Potentially. She still seems quite sharp though. And Charles is as bad as Phil, the bloke is an absolute muppet,

I did a few years of school in the English system. Monarchy was at the forefront of history lessons. You may be thinking Edward, who abdicated to marry IIRC and allowed George VI to take the throne.

I actually find the Royals fascinating, although I'm certainly no royalist.

I find the history interesting, as I do a lot of history.

That being said (and it may have to do with the teaching, as well) having done English history at school I found a lot of it surprisingly dull. I suppose because there is a lot of rinse and repeat type stuff.

Lol. So true. At least the boys (Will and Harry) seem rather grounded.

Mrs Simpson wasn't it?

Me too. I don't even know why but I find the whole royalty thing really interesting. I don't find the members interesting, more the traditions, rules, history etc.

I watched 'The Crown' on Netflix which I found fascinating. In fact I have to say, my opinion of the Queen changed enormously after watching that series.

Never saw that show.
My interest and fascination stems from travelling through the British Isles and visiting an endless amount of castles and seeing/learning how life was lived back in the day.
Same goes for European monarchy. The Chateaux of France are equally fascinating and probably even more spectacular.

Have you been to the Tower of London Suit? I am sure you have. What an amazing, amazing place.

What a genius Obama is. Everyone who hates someone loves someone else. It's about in-groups and out-groups, and when you feel your in-group is threatened you discover hate pretty quickly.

Of course when your entire in-group consists of safe, comfortable merkins at the top of the economic food chain it's easy to be a smug, magnanimous merkin like him. "We'll teach them to love each other." Give me a f**king break.

The royals haven't been interesting since they actually ruled, and hacked each other to pieces for fun and profit.

I love QEII though. They'll lose a lot when she steps down.

It's natural for social elites to be completely ignorant of the lived experience of the people far below them. They just should refrain from commenting on shit they don't know about. Though I guess elected representatives are expecting to spout empty platitudes. That said, they could get some advice from one of their anthropologist mates before they open their mouth and look like an utter merkin.

You need to watch 'The Crown' , Gronk. George VI tries to hide the extent of his illness, but he can't fool his maker, and dies while up a Sandringham. He was deffo the king at the time.

Who'd of thunk that decades later General Lee would be the catalyst of the white supremacist riots in Virginia.
