Yes. Twice.
So many incredible castles in Britain. The history is so gory. It's why Mel Gibsons Braveheart is one of the best movies ever, although the attempts at humour were more modern day slapstick I suspect.

As for France.......un-f**king believeable are some of the chateaux.
Chenonceau, Chambord etc in the Loire Valley...... are just extraordinary examples of mid age architecture.
