Actually that's wrong... I just looked it up.

Article 80 has the sentences that apply, and death, life, 20years etc are all grouped together with no distinguishing thresholds.
Interestingly, the sentences include mention of "fines"... if you think of the reported request for "bribe" for a lesser sentence, perhaps it was just a slightly different form of what we'd call "plea bargaining"? W
here instead of reducing the charges (as we'd do here) to elicit a guilty plea, someone over there says if you agree to pay a $130K fine as part of your sentence, we'll make it 20 years or life (rather than the maximum death penalty)?
