Melbourne are the best team in the comp at stopping the other team when they have momentum. Such a smart team, they slow it right down when the other team have momentum with niggle that just about straddles the line. Conversely, when they get momentum they just explode.

I dont really think the storm got out of 2nd gear either. They make it look so easy

The key to all stats is context and the context here is that Manly are a bog average side with 1 amazing player

I actually think one of the key stats was that there back 5 failed to make any meters.

Manlys pack was gassed from defence yet there back were completely shut down and dominated.

Turbo made 150m but garrick was next best with 72....

I dont think the importance of having a strong back 5 who can all contribute heavily with meters in the modern game can be stated highly enough..

The game is faster than ever and the forwards are more tired than ever. The backs MUST be good at gaining yardage. Lose that battle and your stuffed imo.
