No they weren't. They were in a huge debt. How many times do you need to be told.

See, this is the problem. The Bears were never in a "huge debt". Facts are that the Bears had over $10 million which went into the Football Club - but only after they were declared "likely to be insolvent" and forced into a JV. Obviously, there were numerous parties more interested in having a Norths-Manly JV than the Bears stand alone. Aside from this, they had a lucrative future set up as a CC Bears team. Having them put into administation was a crime.

Madunit - you have presented no facts at all. Just rumour.

Huge debt? meblbourne Storm need $7 million each year from News Limited to survive. Why don't we throw them out?

Idiot.

I don't know why Melbourne isn't thrown out, it's a very good question.

There you go with another big if. What was once a confident belief has fast become a doubtful hope.

Nice theory. A central coast team that is called the bears is still not the North Sydney Bears. It is the Central Coast bears.

You'd do well to go and check.

No they weren't. They were in a huge debt. How many times do you need to be told.

1. and im confident theyll have solid finances. im saying if to end your points.

2. no sh*t sherlock

3. wrong

4. wrong largely

any decent long thinking administration would ensured central coast bears stayed in the nrl rather than killing it off and allowing a club like cronulla to remain.

how the f**k do clubs like perth, balmain, wests, saints, illawarra, central coast bears get ranked behind cronulla?

You continue to throw your sh*t at Cronulla without once listening or recognising the "FACT" Cronulla has a very strong Asset base which as a "business" allows them very positive options to raise income in the future. ie: $60 million dollar development which will produce income to teh football club. Before you throw sh*t at teams based on your personal likes and dislikes perhaps take a balanced view, check your facts and then post.

The funny thing though is as a long time Cronulla fan I agree the loss of the Bears is sad and I would like to see them re emerge as Central Coast.

1) 3) Their support base has shrunk. No kidding, they completely
surrendered the North Shore to rugby union. Maybe they should
take it back and the Central Coast with it.

4) The bears are broke. A complex issue, but not insurmountable.
They have the brand, a support base and and a massive
expansion region to exploit. The NRL should prop it up until
it is viable. They are better off propping up the Norths/Central
Coast than Melbourne. Trying to defeat AFL over union is as
stupid as going to the football for the toilet facilities.

Singo would seriously consider a 9/3 split. The bears have no
supporter baggage. I never said bring the bears back as North
Sydney. They need to come back as the North Sydney Central Coast BEARS.
Include everybody. It is smart marketing.

These two points are the best post so far, its a no brainer. The lasting sore point of the super league war is the shafting of the bears, it needs to be fixed.

Miller, you need to get used to the idea that Cronulla's days are numbered.

Again a post with no FACTS to back it up. All personal, you have nothing.

Bottom line.... it won't happen sunshine, but you keep on wishing.

Why don't bears fans get slated everytime someone posts a thread like this, or is it just Perth you don't like?

Hey Perthred. If WA is sustainable and can meet whatever criteria stands for inclusion (same for Central Coast) then I don't have any issue with Perth being there. The trouble in some posts is some people take the opportunity to take swipes based on personal likes and dislikes rather than based on anything resembling facts. Keep pushing for Perth! It has to have a better chance in time than another City.

because, whilst its a good theory, Perth is/was always going to be a tough ask up against the overwhelming AFL town that it is. Which is not to say it shouldnt have been kept, ive long been of the view perth was more likely to be a success than melbourne, but melbourne being the 2nd biggest city a team was always going to be there eventually.

I dont agree with how the cutting of Perth was carried out, and would like to eventually see them in the NRL, however a club that was there 3 years isnt quite the same as a club that existed for 92 seasons in the top grade, was doing alot to help the game and got royally screwed in the process.

Good luck to Perth to get back in eventually however.

Thanks Miller, we have many areas we are working on as fans and as a governing body in WA and the more fans we can get joining in this campaign the more Gallop may sit up and take notice.

when the nrl was done the sharks finances were very poor.

news ltd had loaned them millions to keep afloat.

only now are the clubs finances (revenues) growing well.

yes the assets are strong but unless they sold them, they didnt do much for the clubs revenues.

without going to SL, cronulla would never have survived being swallowed up by saints or kicked out.

if you are honest as a RL fan then youll see where im coming from

norths stayed loyal to the ARL, perth didnt so imo its worse for norths. if news ltd cut perth, thats sort of karma.

norths were very unlucky given a team on the central coast was a must. delays in construction affected them being there.

if there was no rain that season, then theyd still be around today.

but mostly most of the people that start these threads are ex ARL fans as the SL fans tend to be happy with less teams and that their clubs mostly survived.

the ARL fans will mostly back the clubs that stuck loyal of the games righfull owners
