Luckly they didn't, coz we all know manly had both the ARL/NRL administrators back them to the hilt, im glad to see you squirm your insight regarding what the bears should do with their catchment, while they play for the nswcup and feed the storm
Squirm? It’s ultimately RL on the North Shore and in Northern Sydney in general that’s suffered from the status quo. The Bears continuing as they are is doing no favours for RL in the region.

For many years Manly have ignored their own home the northern beaches in favour of bringing kids in from Blacktown.
From U13’s up North Sydney junior clubs join the Manly junior competitions but the competition is very ordinary.
The NRL really should have forced the Northern Eagles to work instead of just adhering to Ken Arthurson’ and Bob Fultons wishes and just handing the NRL license back to Manly.
Can we have a Northern Eagle's combined Nswrl Cup team
Playing at Gosford central coast
As a combined hybrid organisation
Feeder club's pathways

Gosford central coast could have a team in nswrl. And NRLW RL
As feeder club's pathways for the eagles.

The problem is because of the current situation, the bear you know is basically unknown to the younger end of Gen Y and the generations younger than them. There’s entire generations who have grown up without the Bears in the NRL and don’t care about them. They’re also unlikely to care about a Perth or NZ based Bears team.

Who cares about which generation knows what, are we to placate to all the magpie and steelers fans coz of the other merger teams, no one cares about borders and catchments anymore, the comps that filter up to the NRL do so much better when they are run by clubs like norths, not those NRL clubs like manly who just align themselves with a feeder arrangement instead of nurturing a local competition

No, that’s the point. Young people don’t know and don’t care about the Bears, they’re the ones who are going to be around in the future and who decisions should be based around.

The problem with the North Shore is that the comps run in the Bears’ catchment haven’t performed well. The Northern Beaches and North Shore would perform a lot better with a unified catchment and a single entity overseeing it.

Can you post a photo. Or picture. Map
Of the total area of Norths. Manly. Juniors areas
Including central coast if possible

There would need to be a compromise between Manly and North Sydney to unify the two districts.

Offer North Sydney a 50% stake of the NRL licence and rebrand as North Sydney Sea Eagles. Red and black colour scheme with 3 games at North Sydney Oval. That's probably as good as it will get for North Sydney Bears.

No team would give up so much for so little.

a lot of irrelevant rubbish in there considering the thread is about if nrl needs more regional teams.

gold coast - went broke a number of times, poor on field
illawarra- had to merge
nq - went broke, poor on field most of nrl era
canberra - on field been poor most of nrl era
Gosford - manly ditched the place as soon as possible
newcastle - went broke, poor on field most of nrl era

So there’s the sum total of regional nrl clubs in last 25 years.not one of them has had any sustained on field success and most have been pretty poor,
You can say all that about every club
Major City club's aswell
Every club has gone through the same thing
